QB Streaming: Under the Radar QBs With Big Week 4 Projections

QB streaming advice for Week 4 of the 2017 fantasy football season.

Week 3 QB Streaming Recap

We survived a wild Week 3, where Andy Dalton and Eli Manning came within seconds of their first win of the season only to suffer a crushing loss – though fantasy owners were not left hanging.

Last week was largely a boom or bust week. Two quarterbacks had over 40 fantasy points while five had over 30, one of those being Blake Bortles. Though I will take my own mini bow for recommending Jacoby BrissettJay Cutler could’ve been better and Josh McCown could’ve been worse.

Status QB FanDuel Points QB Rank
1QB Option 1 Trevor Siemian 9.6 27
1QB Option 2 Jay Cutler 12.7 24
2QB Option 1 Josh McCown 14.7 21
2QB Option 2 Jacoby Brissett 27.8 8

In a week where Bortles, Brissett, Case Keenum, Brian Hoyer, and Jared Goff all ranked in the top 10 for fantasy production, the value and success in streaming quarterbacks has never been so clear. As we move into Week 4, with still no Luck in sight, we direct our efforts to finding the next Cinderella story.

QB Streaming Advice for Week 4

1QB Option 1: Andy Dalton vs. Browns

Rostered: 45%

Game Level Similarity Projection: 17

FanDuel Salary: $7,100

There were high expectations for Andy Dalton’s fantasy value entering the 2017 season. But with a failing offensive line comes a running game that suffers, ultimately bringing the Cincinnati Bengals to an 0-3 record to start their season. Yet their record doesn’t highlight the fight they put up against Green Bay this past Sunday, leading to an eventual loss in overtime. Although he was outplayed by Aaron Rodgers, Dalton showed more efficiency than he had in the first two games – completing 21 of 27 passes for 212 yards and finally tossing a couple touchdowns. It was only a matter of time.

With two TDs, Dalton notched only his fifth game with more than one passing score since the start of the 2016 season, and two of those games were against the Browns. What a fortunate opportunity that the Bengals match up against the Browns in Week 4. With their entire offense finally beginning to click again, this should be the week to stream Dalton. The Browns defense gave up 31 points to the Colts last week, bringing their season-total to 76 points allowed. The Browns have a way of making teams look good, and the Bengals need a win.

1QB Option 2: Tyrod Taylor vs. Falcons

Rostered: 41%

Game Level Similarity Projection: 21

FanDuel Salary: $7,100

You didn’t miss anything. Tyrod Taylor will be entering Mercedes-Benz Stadium for a Week 4 showdown against the 3-0 Falcons, although Atlanta was an inch away from giving up the game-winning touchdown to Golden Tate. Having barely pulled out the win at the last second, the Falcons defense is barely getting by, averaging 20 points allowed per game. And while Tyrod Taylor might not have the offense he had hoped to have entering the 2017 season, he proved he can make do with what he has, even against the powerhouse that is the Denver Broncos defense.

In his Week 3 win against the Broncos, Taylor went 20 for 26 for 213 yards and two TDs. Although he was sacked four times, he didn’t give up a single turnover. While the Bills don’t have enough weapons for Taylor to be a weekly streaming option, he is often undervalued for his rushing ability and lack of turnovers. On a point-per-game basis, Taylor finished as a top-8 quarterback in his past two seasons with the Bills. While I don’t expect him to pull out another upset, Taylor should give a valiant effort against a pass rush struggling with injuries.

2QB Option 1: DeShaun Watson vs. Titans

Rostered: 14%

Game Level Similarity Projection: 21

FanDuel Salary: $7,300

In a game even the great announcer Tony Romo couldn’t have predicted, Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans were just a Tom Brady comeback drive away from upsetting the New England Super Bowl Patriots. Watson completed 22 of 33 passes for 301 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs in the 36-33 loss at New England, with an additional 41 yards on the ground. In just his second start in the NFL, Watson proved why he was the 12th overall pick in last year’s draft.

Up against a 27th-ranked defense who has given up 69 points on the season thus far, expect Watson to continue to produce back in Houston against the Titans in Week 4. Watson is a cheap buy who might prove worthy of a roster spot moving further into the season.

As an aside – DeAndre Hopkins owners should also take note, as the Titans are the only team to allow a top-12 WR in every week this season.

2QB Option 2: Blake Bortles vs. Jets

Rostered: 12%

Game Level Similarity Projection: 19

FanDuel Salary: $7,700

The Blake Bortles we have all been known to criticize just made one of the top defenses in the league look like swiss cheese. In London, Bortles completed 20 of 31 passes for 244 yards and 4 TDs in Sunday’s 44-7 win over the Baltimore Ravens. While a career-performance doesn’t change his status to franchise quarterback, he should be able to continue his streak in his Week 4 matchup against the NY Jets.

Having allowed the 11th-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, the Jets are lacking depth at defense, despite their win against the Dolphins last week. And with the Jets offense in a similar position, Bortles should get plenty of time on the field. His starting job still up for grabs, Bortles will continue to prove himself and should have his chance to do so against the Jets.

2019 Week 3 Tight End Streamers: Welcome to the Wasteland

It didn’t take long, but Week 3 marks the first visit to the tight end wasteland of the 2019 season. The options are not great, especially given Darren Waller’s ascension to “every week starter” status following his TE8 finish in Week 2. For the second week in a row, Waller

Kyler Murray Is About to Explode

Kyler Murray currently leads the league in passing attempts and has thrown for 657 yards. Unfortunately, he’s struggled to find the end zone through the air and has left fantasy owners disappointed with only 17 rushing yards. The rookie phenom sits at QB13 through two weeks. All that is about
