Week 13 QB Streaming for 1-QB and 2-QB Leagues

QB streaming advice in 1-QB and 2-QB leagues for Week 13 of the 2017 fantasy football season.

Week 12 QB Streaming Recap

Welcome back to reality, Alex Smith owners. Though this is still Smith’s best fantasy season by far, it looks like the ride has come to an end. Dak Prescott owners, we didn’t forget about you either.

Meanwhile, Eli Manning fans, you have our deepest sympathies.

This is normally the time of year where there is less of a need for quarterback streamers. However, with QB1s already eyeing the off-season (looking at you: Smith, Prescott, Jay Cutler, Derek Carr), quarterback streamers might be your best option for securing your playoff spot.

In Week 12, Case Keenum continued to wow us all and Andy Dalton delivered against the Browns (as most do). On the other side, Tyrod Taylor secured a win for the Bills (and hopefully his starting role) but less so for fantasy owners; and Jacoby Brissett did what he could while being sacked…eight times (league-high 43 times on the season).

Status QB FanDuel Points QB Rank
1QB Option 1 Andy Dalton 19.2 10
1QB Option 2 Case Keenum 27.3 3
2QB Option 1 Tyrod Taylor 14 21
2QB Option 2 Jacoby Brissett 7.4 28

And just like that it’s Week 13. I’m going to avoid recommending Keenum as your top streaming option this week solely due to the fact that I have already included him the past two weeks. I will note that he is now 54 percent owned in Yahoo leagues, so if he’s still available, snag him while you still can.

Keenum has had at least two passing touchdowns in three of his last four games, a minimum of 280 yards and no less than 19 fantasy points in each of those games. He will be put to the test on the road against Atlanta and Carolina the next two weeks, though it may work in fantasy’s favor by requiring him to leverage his passing game more than usual. This is me, still not picking him, because he is above the fold. Now, onto my Week 13 streaming picks.

1QB Option: Josh McCown vs. Chiefs

Rostered: 32%

Game-Level Similarity Projection: 15.9

FanDuel Salary: $7,700

It’s finally time to give Josh McCown credit where it’s due. I avoided McCown last week because of his matchup against the Panthers, and boy did he make me regret it. Putting up over 300 yards and three TDs against a tough Panthers secondary, McCown has proven to be an almost matchup-proof fantasy quarterback. He now has only two games with under 200 passing yards (and one was 196 yards) and has thrown multiple TDs in five of his last seven games, despite the Jets’ 4-7 record. Though the Jets are essentially out of playoff contention, McCown seems determined to prove something, and coach Todd Bowles has stated that he is their quarterback for the foreseeable future.

McCown will look to improve his fantasy value against the Chiefs defense that is currently ranked 27th in the NFL, having allowed the seventh-most passing yards this season. McCown has the matchup and the value to secure a playoff spot for those hurting at quarterback this week.

2QB Option 1: Brett Hundley vs. Buccaneers

Rostered: 7%

Game-Level Similarity Projection: 14.3

FanDuel Salary: $6,400

The Brett Hundley that was raised under Aaron Rodgers has finally spread his wings. Last week, Hundley threw for 245 passings yards and three TDs, finishing at QB7 against a tough Steelers defense. Though the Week 12 matchup ended in a devastating loss, Hundley proved to finally be clicking with his offense – with a score each for Randall Cobb, Jamaal Williams, and Davante Adams. While one good week should still be evaluated cautiously, Hundley could provide significant upside to fantasy owners against a Tampa Bay defense that is allowing 285 passing yards per game, the highest total in the NFL, and the 10th-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. The Packers need a win to stay in playoff contention. If you’re in the same boat, Hundley could provide high upside in two-quarterback leagues given the matchup and his offensive weapons.

2QB Option 2: Jimmy Garoppolo vs. Colts

Rostered: 9%

Game-Level Similarity Projection: N/A*

FanDuel Salary: $6,300

There’s limited footage to analyze, but in the 67 seconds we saw of Jimmy Garoppolo as a 49er, his future looks bright. After he replaced an injured C.J. Beathard against the Seahawks this past week, Garoppolo completed two attempts for 18 yards and one score – putting up more fantasy points in those two completions than Dak Prescott, Mitchell Trubisky, or Eli Manning managed while playing a full game in Week 12. Though the score was in garbage time, it was enough for coach Kyle Shanahan to give Garoppolo the nod and his first start for San Francisco this week against the Colts. While the 49ers still lack a strong receiving corps and the Bears defense is giving up only 215 passing yards per game, Garoppolo is an intriguing start in deeper leagues. Let’s see what 3.5 years under Tom Brady and Bill Belichick looks like.

It didn’t take long, but Week 3 marks the first visit to the tight end wasteland of the 2019 season. The options are not great, especially given Darren Waller’s ascension to “every week starter” status following his TE8 finish in Week 2. For the second week in a row, Waller

Kyler Murray Is About to Explode

Kyler Murray currently leads the league in passing attempts and has thrown for 657 yards. Unfortunately, he’s struggled to find the end zone through the air and has left fantasy owners disappointed with only 17 rushing yards. The rookie phenom sits at QB13 through two weeks. All that is about
