The previous article kicking off NFL training camp highlighted the impact of offensive line continuity on production in recent years. This piece updates the continuity figures for Week 1 projected starters after August injuries occurred and camp battles were resolved.
The Commanders would certainly rather have Sam Cosmi at 100 percent than Nick Allegretti and Andrew Wylie subbing in his place, but those two are solid veterans who logged plenty of starts in this dance line last year. Jim Harbaugh wants Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt tipping the spear, and it’s devastatingly Chargers that Slater went down in camp, but Alt played left tackle at Notre Dame, and right tackle fill-in Trey Pipkins took over 90% of right guard snaps in that Harbaugh/Roman scheme last year. Pipkins also started at right tackle for years prior with the Bolts. Bijan Robinson and Michael Penix Jr. are not as fortunate with the Falcons replacing injured stalwart RT Kaleb McGary, though they do feature incumbents elsewhere up front. Ditto for the Bucs and Tristan Wirfs, who, unlike McGary, avoids season-long IR and even the short-term designation through Week 4.
A few teams have recently undergone changes in total offensive line continuity for Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season, and the final preseason charts below will reflect those. Despite some turbulence in training camp, teams across the league are maintaining offensive line continuity at a much higher level than in recent seasons.
