Consistent success in dynasty requires persistent replenishment of value. In this series, Jesse Cohen spotlights unique opportunities and trade ideas for RV-influenced dynasty managers aiming to keep their Permanent Championship Windows open.
Let’s Go! The Updated RotoViz Dynasty Rankings are Here
Christmas may only come once a year, but updates to the RotoViz Dynasty Rankings are pretty close.
Shawn dove deep into the updated rankings in this week’s Banana Stand, with 95+ unique player profiles (make sure you check it out). In this week’s Dealbook, I discuss my process for intaking, triaging, and actioning the new rankings (with examples).
Interlude: Dynasty Dealbook Week 5 Recap
Week 5 Recommendation: Shake, rattle, and roll on Spencer Rattler’s prospect pedigree and early 2025 performance.
Results: Rattler picked up his first win as a pro, adding an explosive-play element with Rasheed Shaheed.
After publishing last week’s Dealbook, I wondered what Rattler’s Completion% and OnTgT% would look like after adjusting for aDOT and Pressure%, and how the adjusted figures would compare historically. So I ran a regression and, turns out: really good.
Play the Man, Pay the Man (the Process)
Here’s what I do when RotoViz Dynasty Ranking updates are released. You probably have a similar process — take this as a reminder to keep grinding, baby!
First, I compare the RV rankings against public sentiment to establish a list of targets. As Kevin explained:
By comparing our rankings against the fantasy community at large, we can figure out ways to take advantage of deficiencies in the market as we look to build not just dynasty champions but empires that are perennially in contention to bring home league titles.
Second, I review my leagues to see where the targets may practically be available. I look for motivation, be it “win-now” squads looking to plug a hole or “lose-now” squads looking to shed points from their lineup. I play the man so I can pay the man.
