Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays of the Day – April 6th, 2018

Welcome to the NBA daily fantasy basketball plays of the day for April 6th. Tune in for the On The Daily podcasts throughout the week for more in-depth analysis on a game-by-game basis.

Ben Simmons vs CLE – DK: $9,700 FD: $9,600

Ben Simmons has a great matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight, and the fact that Joel Embiid is still out doesn’t hurt matters.  Simmons has been a monster as of late, and playoff implications are on the line here, so gaining exposure to a high-scoring affair is never a bad idea. Simmons is a high-usage player who brings a high floor and an even better ceiling to your lineups.

Tyler Dorsey @ WAS – DK: $3,900 FD: $4,200

The Atlanta Hawks are struggling to keep bodies on the court as we close out the season, but that’s a trend among the tanking teams in the NBA. Isaiah Taylor has been a good fantasy option recently, but I’m shifting my attention toward the cheaper Tyler Dorsey for tonight’s contest. He’s shown some upside as of late, and there’s no reason to ignore him at this price point as long as he continues to see 25-30 minutes.

Also Consider: Trey Burke, Tyler Ulis

Bradley Beal vs ATL – DK: $7,900 FD: $8,600

Bradley Beal will likely go back to being the star of the show tonight with John Wall expected to miss the second half of the back to back. We have seen what Beal can bring to the table when Wall is sidelined, and a matchup with the Hawks does nothing but make this option more appealing. The Wizards are still trying to win games for seeding purposes, as they are just one game behind the Heat, and that should help Beal see plenty of playing time.

Also Consider: Jrue Holiday, Ben McLemore

LeBron James @ PHI – DK: $11,500 FD: $11,400

There really isn’t much to say about LeBron James’ level of play right now, as he has been ripping through opposing defenses on a nightly basis. Tonight’s game between the 76ers and the Cavs should end up being a fantasy goldmine and having exposure to the league’s best player is never a terrible idea. Having James and Ben Simmons might be tough from a salary standpoint, but you would feel great if you could pull it off with all of the value available.

Marshon Brooks @ SAC – DK: $5,200 FD: $4,800

Much like the Atlanta Hawks, the Memphis Grizzlies spend their games playing the end of their bench due to tanking-related injuries and the drive to lose. This is opening up more value options – players you would never think to put into your lineups, especially at a inflated price tag. Well, Marshon Brooks is that guy tonight, as he should see plenty of run for a team that will be without basically everyone. This game won’t have much in the way of pace, but at this point in the season I just want to have guys that have no choice but to play plenty of minutes.

Also Consider: Robert Covington

Kyle Kuzma vs MIN – DK: $7,500 FD: $6,700

Kyle Kuzma is just a guy that isn’t afraid to chuck, and getting someone like that from the mid-range is never a bad way to go. Kuzma has posted at least 26 real points in three of his last four games, largely due to an increased usage rate. The Lakers are without key rotation guys right now, and it’s forcing guys like Kuzma to play 35-40 minutes a night. Josh Hart should also see plenty of run and could offer some nice upside in his own right.

Ersan Ilyasova vs CLE – DK: $5,700 FD: $5,200

If Dario Saric remains out tonight (currently listed as Q), then Ersan Ilyasova almost becomes a must-play. He’s shown time and time again that he can offer upside when given the minutes, and it doesn’t even matter what team he’s on. This journeyman has done a great job of keeping the paychecks coming with his ability to jump right into action and just fit in with a group. There’s double-double upside here for a reasonable mid-range price tag, so make sure you are keeping an eye on the news updates. If Saric is active, I will shift my attention his way.

Also Consider: Anthony Davis, Ivan Rabb

Karl-Anthony Towns @ LAL – DK: $10,100 FD: $10,000

Jimmy Butler is back with the Timberwolves, though he didn’t play last night. I would expect that to change tonight, but one has to think there is a slight transition period after a slightly extended absence. Minnesota will likely continue to feed the big man down low, as Karl-Anthony Towns has been the backbone of this team since Butler went down. You never really consider Brook Lopez a lock-down defender, so the matchup isn’t one to lose sleep over. Minnesota is in a battle to make the playoffs right now, and every single win matters at this point. Expect Towns to see some serious work in tonight’s game, as that would likely give this team the best chance to win.

Deyonta Davis @ SAC – DK: $3,300 FD: $3,500

The Grizzlies will be without Marc Gasol, JaMychal Green, and Jarell Martin tonight, leaving Deyonta Davis to handle a ton of workload up front. Ivan Rabb (listed above) will likely see plenty of run as well, and both will be popular options for a stars and scrubs approach. Davis isn’t exactly a high-upside guy, but he should safely offer 5-6x with a chance for more against the Kings.

Also Consider: Dwight Howard, Kyle O’Quinn
