We have another gigantic twelve-game daily fantasy basketball slate for this Wednesday. There are a lot of options on slates like this and sometimes it can be overwhelming. I’ll try to point you in the right direction.
Before we get started, I want to remind you to check out all the extensive coverage we have to offer here at RotoViz including slate strategy articles, value plays of the day, and injury/breaking news coverage. Also remember you can always do your own research using the NBA Game Splits App and the Pace Dashboard. DAILY FANTASY BASKETBALL PLAYS OF THE DAY
John Wall: $10700 DK, $10500 FD
Wall had a surprisingly disappointing performance against the Cavs in an overtime game on Monday, but I expect him to bounce back in an ideal matchup against the Nets. His salary is getting up there, but it still wouldn’t scare me away, especially considering the success he’s had against the Nets in the past.
Dennis Schroder: $6000 DK, $6200 FD
Schroder has been hit or miss recently and as with most players it’s very contingent on the minutes he sees. Recently there have been instances where Budenholzer has elected to go away from Schroder down the stretch so you may want to consider this a GPP play. He does have the second best possible matchup against the Nuggets and gets to play in front of the home crowd. I can see a big game from him here at a reduced salary.
Also Considered – Darren Collison: $5300 DK, $5400 FD; Michael Carter-Williams: $4600 DK, $5000 FD
Bradley Beal: $7100 DK, $7400 FD
Once again I’m targeting the Brooklyn Nets defense. Beal has been playing really well over the last month and had a huge game on Monday. He’s hit 5x in four out of his last five games and consistently sees the court for around 35 minutes. I expect his hot streak to continue in this game against an awful defense.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: $5700 DK, $5300 FD
Caldwell-Pope has not played well over the last few games, but his minutes are very reliable and he has shown the ability to hit value on this salary consistently. There aren’t a lot of plays I like at shooting guard tonight so I think going to someone with consistent minutes and a great matchup makes sense. I also think there’s a possibility he’s lower owned than expected due to recent performance.
Also Considered – Jamal Crawford: $5100 DK, $5000 FD;
Gordon Hayward: $7600 DK, $8000 FD
Hayward has been a streaky player all year and it looks like he’s currently on another one of those streaks. He’s averaging 48 DK points over his last three games shooting 65 percent from the field. I wouldn’t expect that percentage to stay that high for long, but he has another incredible matchup against the Pelicans, who are in the bottom five defending the position.
Matt Barnes: $5800 DK, $5200 FD
In the absence of Rudy Gay Barnes has seen an increase in usage and now Demarcus Cousins will be sidelined as well due to a suspension. Barnes’ salary has increased significantly over the past week, but with Cousins now out too there is still value in playing him as well as lot of other Kings.
Also Considered – Wilson Chandler: $6600 DK, $6000 FD; LeBron James: $10600 DK, $11500 FD1
Blake Griffin: $9300 DK, $9400 FD
If you haven’t been playing Griffin lately you’ve been missing out. I’m never too keen on playing guys with rising salaries, but in this case the price hasn’t gotten to where it needs to be yet. Griffin hasn’t looked like his old self yet and there have been instances where his elevation has been slightly stunted, but his usage rate has been off the charts since he’s come back from injury. He also has a top matchup against the Knicks.
Larry Nance Jr.: $4200 DK, $4300 FD
Nance’s minutes have been up above 30 over the last couple of games. I’m not sure how much I trust this because I’m used to seeing his playing time in the low twenties, but at this price you’re not risking much. He’s hit at least 7x value in both of those games and as long as he gets the minutes tonight he shouldn’t have a problem paying off this salary.
Also Considered – Willie Cauley-Stein: $3500 DK, $4600 FD
Andre Drummond: $8600 DK, $8300 FD
Drummond’s minutes have been down over the last few games, so it’s a little concerning, but he has a great matchup against the Lakers at home, who have struggled all year at defending big men. Some of those limited minutes were due to blow outs and even in 26 minutes last game Drummond was still able to put up 48 DK points. Earlier this month Drummond had another 48 DK point performance against these Lakers. I think he can still hit 5x even in limited minutes.
Kosta Koufus: $3600 DK, $4900 FD
Another player that should benefit from Cousins absence is Koufus. Cousins has been the Kings entire offense since Gay went down so there will be a lot of usage to go around. It looks like FD has already adjusted for the suspension, but on DK he’s basically the minimum. I can see an argument for all of the Kings big men, but I feel safest about the one that was already in the starting lineup.
Also Considered – Marcin Gortat: $6300 DK, $6900 FD; John Henson: $3800 DK, $3900 FD
That’s it for tonight’s slate. If you have any questions on these plays or any others, don’t hesitate to hit me up on twitter @thisisntdrew.
Good Luck Everyone!
- I’m probably only playing him on DK. (back)
