What’s Wrong With Bo Nix? Breaking Down The Denver Quarterback’s Slow Start to the 2025 Season

After Bo Nix kicked off his career by finishing as fantasy’s QB8 in 2024, the table was set for him to take his game to the next level in Year 2. Nix possesses the combination of passing and rushing ability that has been known to make fantasy managers drool. But just in case another offseason of growth was not enough, the Broncos upgraded their backfield with J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, as well as adding Evan Engram and Pat Bryant to aid in Nix’s growth. In addition, the team bolstered 2024’s third-ranked scoring defense by making significant upgrades at multiple positions through the draft and free agency.

For all of the hype that the Broncos received as a potential usurper of the AFC West throne, nothing about the way they have played on either side of the ball this year suggests that they can be a Super Bowl contender. While the biggest struggles have come from an underperforming defense that finds itself tumbling down the rankings, the offense is not without its issues as well.

Despite two relatively soft matchups to kick off the season, Nix has yet to score as a QB1 through three games, averaging 16.0 fantasy points per game. This is compared to 2024, when Nix scored as a top-12 QB 41% of the time and averaged 20.9 PPG.

Nix currently sits at QB20 for the year, and his early struggles understandably have his fantasy managers worried. Should we be holding out hope for a turnaround in Denver, or would it be best for Nix’s fantasy managers to begin searching for other options at QB?
