Kevin Szafraniec breaks down Tyler Warren’s blistering start to his NFL career and compares his 2025 to the rookie seasons of Brock Bowers and Sam LaPorta.
Tyler Warren has wasted no time acclimating to the NFL, scoring as a TE1 in five of his first six games.
Not only has he become a functional part of the Colts’ passing game, but he has also become the focal point of it.
Warren has seen so much action, in fact, that he currently ranks as the PPR TE2 for the season, barely edging out Trey McBride and only falling behind Jake Ferguson for the top spot at the TE position through six weeks.
However, with CeeDee Lamb poised to return to the Cowboys’ lineup after a three-game layoff, Ferguson could end up seeing his production take a hit. If this ends up being the case, the stage could be set for Warren to become the third rookie in as many years to pace the TE position in scoring.
In 2023, Sam LaPorta broke the stigma surrounding rookie TE performances by posting 239.3 PPR points. Last season, Brock Bowers one-upped LaPorta by putting together a 262.2-point debut, smashing nearly every rookie receiving record at the position along the way.
So far, Warren’s production has stacked up well against LaPorta and Bowers at the start of their careers. But is there a chance that Warren could be in line to reset the gold standard for rookie-year TE scoring?
