We’re back with the running back advanced stats for Week 7. The format of this article could evolve as the season progresses, since we will examine more than just the best and worst in various advanced metrics. After Week 6, the injuries, narratives, and performances shifted in a different direction, especially for the veteran and rookie running backs once again.
We’ll utilize the Advanced Stats Explorer and other tools to analyze notable players that we want to buy or sell. Specifically, we’ll focus on yards before and after contact, the inputs for evasion rate, stuff rate, and the expected fantasy points. That will tell us how the offensive line might be impacting an RB or if their volume might override the advanced stats if they struggle to force missed tackles.
Fighting for Yards After Contact
It’s trivia night, and someone asks which running back averaged the most yards after contact per attempt (YAC/Att) in Week 7. Chase Brown probably wouldn’t have been the top guess after being one of the most inefficient running backs. Brown averaged nearly eight (7.9) YAC/Att against the Steelers, over twice his season-long rate (2.9).

Brown was stuffed on 0% of his rush attempts in Week 7, indicating the Steelers’ defensive line might be a favorable matchup moving forward. For context, Brown ranked 50th in stuff rate, meaning 18% of his rush attempts went for zero or fewer yards. Brown was one of eight running backs who averaged 1.5 yards before contact per attempt (YBC/Att) and 3.0 YAC/Att, which remains a threshold that’s slightly above the league average.
