We’re back with the running back advanced stats for Week 8. The format of this article could evolve as the season progresses, since we will examine more than just the best and worst in various advanced metrics. After Week 6, the injuries, narratives, and performances shifted in a different direction, especially for the veteran and rookie running backs once again.
We’ll utilize the Advanced Stats Explorer and other tools to analyze notable players that we want to buy or sell. Specifically, we’ll focus on yards before and after contact, the inputs for evasion rate, stuff rate, and the expected fantasy points. That will tell us how the offensive line might be affecting an RB and whether their volume might override their advanced stats if they struggle to force missed tackles.
Fighting For Yards After Contact
We had 10 running backs average over 4 yards after contact per attempt (YAC/Att) in Week 8 with five or more rush attempts. Jonathan Taylor led the league with 11.4 YAC/Att in Week 8, while Chase Brown, TreVeyon Henderson, Breece Hall, and James Cook were the other running backs with 4.0 or more YAC/Att and 10 rush attempts. Interestingly, there were two Bengals’ and two Jets’ running backs on the YAC/Att leaderboard.
