Week 10 WR Advanced Stats: Despite Being Division Rivals, Ja’Marr Chase Sure Does Love the Ravens

In the first game of Week 10, fans were treated to watching the Ravens and Bengals go toe-to-toe in prime time. After their first matchup of the season was in the running for game of the year, the rematch raised the bar even further.

At the center of the storyline was Ja’Marr Chase absolutely torching the Ravens’ defense on his way to the ninth-highest PPR performance of any WR in the history of the NFL. Lest we forget, all of this happened after Chase’s 193 receiving yards in Week 5 set the previous high-water mark for this season before his 264 yards obliterated that mark in Week 10.

With the Bengals currently sitting at 4-6, there is still a little bit of hope that we get to see Part 3 of this 2024 saga in the playoffs. Otherwise, we will anxiously await the release of the 2025 schedule, at which point we will make sure to circle next year’s matchups between these two AFC North rivals on our calendars.

Before we get into the latest information available in the Advanced Stats Explorer, just a few quick reminders about the article.

  • Leading up to the season, I looked at the five years of data available in the Advanced Stats Explorer and broke it down into four separate articles: Routes and Targets, Intended Air Yards, Yards After the Catch and Evasion, and Catchable Targets, Drops, First Downs, and Touchdowns.
  • When working through the five-year sample, we found that the 90th percentile and above generally included most of the top-24 wide receivers for each metric in any given season. The 75th percentile and above included the top 55 to 60 WRs in any given metric per season. Given that these two cohorts easily apply to a normal 12-team fantasy league, they will be referenced often throughout the article.

In Week 10 the total number of players who earned at least one target during the 2024 season grew to 207 after our Week 9 sample included 201 players.[1]
