Waiting is the Hardest Part: Delayed Gratification Could Be the Best Course of Action in Your 2025 Franchise League Football College Draft

Kevin Szafraniec outlines the strategies he will be looking to employ in his inaugural college drafts for rosters across the Franchise League Football platform this season.

One of the unique and exciting features of Franchise League Football (FLF) is the ability to stash one college player who will represent a low-cost player for multiple years once he reaches the NFL. Each year, there is a one-round draft where owners have the chance to add a college player to their rosters, assuming they do not already have one occupying one of their reserve spots.

Once that player reaches the NFL, they will be given a three-year contract that starts at $2M per year and increases by an additional $2M until he becomes a restricted free agent following his second NFL season. Considering the massive salary cap advantage we can receive by consistently selecting difference makers in our college drafts, making sure that we are prepped for the annual event is one of the most important things we can do to guarantee year-over-year success in our FLF leagues.

Given that FLF is a single-QB format, I would generally only be looking to add a college signal caller if there is a true generational prospect about to make their way into the NFL. The half-PPR scoring should also be a factor to consider, but more of a tie-breaker when evaluating prospects as opposed to a field-tilting characteristic. With these things in mind, let’s take a look at the top prospects we should be targeting in 2025 FLF college drafts.
