Streaming Defenses: Week 4

This past week was a bit rough on the streaming front, as Matt Wispe’s choices finished 16th, 18th, 22nd, and 25th respectively. I am sure he is blaming me somewhere, which is fine, as I would not have fared any better. Here are the results thus far into the season: Week Team Rank Team Rank Team Rank 1 IND T-22nd ATL T-17th BUF T-10th 2 TB T-1st LAC T-23rd OAK T-8th 3 GB T-16th PHI 25th MIA T-18th Clearly we need to improve. If we include honorable mentions, it certainly looks better: Week Team Rank 1 LAR T-1st 2 BAL…...

Streaming Defenses: Week 2

While the first week of the season saw a plethora of poor offensive performances, several team defenses had super showings. A total of five defenses had over 20 points, and three of them were on waivers in the vast majority of leagues. This is why we stream. Matt Wispe’s choices ended up finishing first, 10th, 15th, and 24th in fantasy points. We hope to do even better than that this week. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (ESPN Ownership 2.8 percent, Yahoo ownership 14 percent) Tampa Bay had an unexpected week off which allowed them to prepare even more for a home game against…...

Navigating a 12-Team Superflex Auction Draft

This past weekend was the auction draft of one of my home leagues. When strategizing for an auction, there are some steps you can take to make yourself better prepared. One is to know your league mates’ history: betting, player, and positional tendencies. The more you know your opponents’ strategies, the better you can take advantage. Having a spreadsheet of your league history is a great way to keep track of these things…....

What Sammy Watkins Trade Means For Fantasy

Not too long ago, the thought of Robert Woods being the number one in Los Angeles and getting lots of targets had thoughts of Golden Tate running through our heads. But alas, it was not meant to be as Sammy Watkins was traded to the Rams Friday in a surprising deal that made people’s heads spin. ? TRADE ALERT! ? Sammy Watkins… WOW: https://t.co/Y26fzST2Qu pic.twitter.com/e9jcFwgMge — NFL (@NFL) August 11, 2017 Let’s unravel what it means moving forward for Los Angeles pass catchers. Sammy Watkins For Watkins, his value shouldn’t change much. He changes teams but remains the number one…...

Fantasy arbitrage is an idea that was applied to fantasy football several years ago in this article by FantasyDouche, where two or more players at different ADPs are shown to have similar value. This piece will examine this concept with two particular receivers…....

Dynasty Buy Low: The Need for Snead

Any recent buzz surrounding the New Orleans Saints has focused on the breakout of Michael Thomas, the trade of Brandin Cooks to the New England Patriots, or the backfield drama involving Adrian Peterson and Mark Ingram. A player that has been relatively forgotten is Willie Snead, and that makes him a great dynasty trade target. Efficiency Snead has quietly been one of the more efficient receivers in the league, especially when it comes to young slot receivers. His receiving fantasy points over expectation per attempt is ahead of more talked about players Jamison Crowder and Stefon Diggs.   While he has been more efficient than those players, Snead still finds his…...

Fantasy Face-Off: Kenny Britt vs. Marvin Jones (Part 2)

Late round picks can turn your team from good to great. Being drafted as the 52nd and 53rd wide receivers off the board according to the Best-Ball ADP app, Marvin Jones and Kenny Britt are two receivers who appear to be vastly undervalued. While Matt Wispe made his case for Jones, here is the case to take Britt instead. VOLUME Last year, Terrelle Pryor was a pleasant surprise for the Browns, collecting 77 passes, 1007 yards, and scoring four times. This was good enough to be WR20 on the season in PPR formats. The Browns decided that instead of paying…...

Fantasy Face-off: Alshon Jeffery vs. Demaryius Thomas Part 2

This is part two of the Fantasy Face-off between Alshon Jeffery and Demaryius Thomas. After reading Justin Simon’s case for Jeffery and against Thomas, here is why I believe Thomas is the pick over Jeffery in the third round of your drafts. High Floor Over the past five seasons, Thomas has been one of the best wide receivers in the entire league. He has finished among the top 16 WRs every year and has been top 10 in four of them. Thomas gets the volume that most receivers envy, averaging 9.85 targets per game. That sustained volume has led to…...

James White Is The Patriots Back To Own

New England has been a headache for fantasy owners when it comes to running backs for some time now. They have taken a committee approach the last few years, cycling through players such as Danny Woodhead, Shane Vereen, Stevan Ridley, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and others. This year, the Patriots signed two more players in Mike Gillislee and Rex Burkhead to go along with holdovers Dion Lewis and James White. The trick has always been figuring out which RB to own. Well this year, that RB is White. Particularly in best ball formats, White’s weekly ceiling would indicate that he could be…...
