If you missed my first article introducing the “Joe 2 Pro” series, you can read it here. It gives a brief overview on how to attack daily fantasy football without feeling like you’re drowning. What I am trying to do with the Joe 2 Pro series is bring up topics regarding daily fantasy football that I wish I knew about when I had first started playing. There’s definitely a learning curve when you go from seasonal leagues to daily fantasy football.
There’s a few different options I am considering for QB for my cash games. I like Matt Ryan on both sites, but I am a little leery of playing him if Julio Jones doesn’t suit up. I don’t doubt that the volume will be there for Ryan, but I am not sure what his efficiency will look like. I am for sure playing Andrew Luck in at least one of my cash game lineups. He is $9,300 on DraftKings, which is the cheapest he’s been since Week 8. I don’t have problem with rostering Johnny Manziel, either. His running ability is going to give him a fairly high floor, which is what we’re looking for in cash games. However, I am more likely to roster him on FanDuel because there are a enough cheaper WR options that I am comfortable with rostering which should give roster flexibility. If you’re only using a single cash game lineup, I wouldn’t recommend putting it all in Manziel’s hands, and just take the safer option with Luck.
I am a firm believer in the idea that you need to pay up for one of Matt Fore, DeMarco Murray, or Le’Veon Bell. If price isn’t a factor it’s Bell, hands down. In DFS price is a factor, but I still prefer Bell anyway.
Here’s the projections using our GLSP App, which is part of the reason why I believe so strongly in rostering at least one of these guys. The Ravens have one of the highest team totals against the Jaguars, and they’re 14-points favorites at home. Home favorite RBs are among my favorite targets. Jacksonville ranks as the fifth-best matchup for RBs according to the Buy Low Machine. Don’t sleep on Fred Jackson against Green Bay. Pro Football Focus has them graded as the fourth-worst run defense. Jackson is also a factor in the Bills’ pass game, as he has 16 percent market share, which trails only Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods. This is important because even if they fall behind, Jackson won’t fall victim to game script.
Like most weeks, I am paying down at WR because I typically pay up for RBs in my cash games. Depending on how roster construction goes later in the week, the most expensive WR I am looking to use right now is Mike Evans. He’s got a nice matchup against Carolina, and looking at our Fantasy Efficiency App, you can see he’s been the much more efficient WR despite seeing less market share than Vincent Jackson.
With the injury to Brandon Marshall, Marquess Wilson is very much in play at minimum salary on DraftKings and FanDuel. Utilizing Wilson will allow to to roster one of the top RBs that I mentioned previously. If Andre Johnson sits out and Vontae Davis is out again, I think DeAndre Hopkins could be in for huge day against a putrid Colts secondary. In that same game, I am also looking to fire up Donte Moncrief if Reggie Wayne is out. If Wayne is active, I wouldn’t feel as comfortable using him in my cash games. I think Kelvin Benjamin is still in a good spot despite Derek Anderson getting the start for the Panthers.
On FanDuel I am almost always paying for Rob Gronkowski. He provides you with safety and consistency in an otherwise volatile position. He holds you tight and lets you know everything is going to be alright. There are a few guys I am looking at though if I am not using Gronk. Delanie Walker failed to cash in last week, but the matchup this week is even prettier. The Titans are down on receiving options, and Walker had 10 targets last week. While the production wasn’t there, the volume is still encouraging. The Jets provided the seventh-best matchup for TEs according to our Buy Low Machine. The last time Antonio Gates squared off with Denver, he scored two TDs, while catching six passes for 63 in the process. Denver currently allows the seventh-most fantasy points per game to TEs, and the Chargers are currently four point underdogs at home. I’d expect a decent amount volume being thrown towards Gates on Sunday.
