Anthony Davis and Your Daily Hoops Cheatcodes* (3-31-13)

Monty Williams, Anthony Davis, David Jones

This is going to be a post for all you daily fantasy basketball junkies. Daily hoops can be extremely exhausting due to the massive day-to-day swings in player usage and match ups so this will serve as a great place to start when constructing your lineup.

These lineups are specific to DraftStreet, Draft Day, and FanDuel, thus it’s important to note that the scoring and position requirements at these sites are slightly different. One player might offer more value at one site, but not another.

I’ve used our extremely useful apps (for DraftStreet go here, Draft Day here, and FanDuel here) as well as some personal strategy to create a lineup for each site. I’ll be putting up two lineups each day on a rotating basis (DS/DD on Monday, DD/FD on Tuesday, FD/DS on Wednesday, and so on). I encourage you to utilize the apps I linked to above as they are some of the most valuable tools available in the daily fantasy community.

Finally, you should not just blindly follow these lineups. Very often guys are ruled out as it gets closer to tip-off and player usage becomes clearer. There are tons of places to check for pregame updates, but I’ve found Rotoworld and Twitter searches work best for me.

Game Notes:

– Happy Easter RotoVizers! We’ve got five games on the docket tonight, but the one that stands out in particular to me is Detroit-Chicago. This is the time of year to take advantage of teams who are mailing it in and the Pistons are tanking hard. Brandon Knight re-injured the ankle that caused him miss time earlier this season and the rest of the team can’t be bothered to even put on the facade of playing defense. Just look at where Detroit ranks defensively against each position over its last 10 games:

– I’m starting as many as four Bulls in my lineups. Chicago has been using a Nate Robinson-Kirk Hinrich backcourt since Marco Belinelli and Rip Hamilton are both out. Both Robinson and Hinrich are awesome starts at cheap salaries. In all likelihood, Joakim Noah will miss this one giving way to Nazr Mohammed in the starting five. Nazr will not be heavily rostered today, with most people opting to go with Taj Gibson, but Mohammed will give you the same production on sites like DraftStreet for a fraction of the cost. However with no rebound bonus on FanDuel, I’d go Gibson for under $5k.

– The RotoViz app is absolutely killing it this week. It correctly predicted huge games from Reggie Evans, John Wall, Tobias Harris, and now Evan Turner. Many gun-shy daily players passed on Turner because of his recent slump, but RotoVizers who trusted the algorithm were rewarded handsomely with a 22-7-3 line. Tonight the algo likes it some Unibrow and frankly, Anthony Davis is blossoming into a fantasy stud. When he gets 30+ minutes, the Brow is good for at least 30 fantasy points.

– Shaun Livingston has been quietly productive since taking over the starting point guard spot in Cleveland. While your opponents will pay an extra $600 on DraftStreet for the flavor of the month Brian Roberts, RotoVizers will take that saved money and spend it towards a proven veteran like Tim Duncan. On FanDuel, where salaries are less reactive, you can still get Roberts for $3,900 so I actually like both he and Livingston there.

– I’m a huge Tiago Splitter fan and Miami is very suspect on the glass. With Duncan drawing most the attention, Splitter has a great opportunity for a 25-30-fantasy point night.

– I think Carmelo Anthony and Paul Pierce are going go back and forth today at MSG so I don’t have an issue with paying for either guy. In fact, Pierce is in my FanDuel lineup and Anthony is in the one on DraftStreet. Again, Happy Easter and good luck in your games!
