Monta Ellis and Your Daily Hoops Cheatcodes* (3-28-13)

ellis

This is going to be a post for all you daily fantasy basketball junkies. Daily hoops can be extremely exhausting due to the massive day-to-day swings in player usage and match ups so this will serve as a great place to start when constructing your lineup.

These lineups are specific to DraftStreet, Draft Day, and FanDuel, thus it’s important to note that the scoring and position requirements at these sites are slightly different. One player might offer more value at one site, but not another.

I’ve used our extremely useful apps (for DraftStreet go here, Draft Day here, and FanDuel here) as well as some personal strategy to create a lineup for each site. I’ll be putting up two lineups each day on a rotating basis (DS/DD on Monday, DD/FD on Tuesday, FD/DS on Wednesday, and so on). I encourage you to utilize the apps I linked to above as they are some of the most valuable tools available in the daily fantasy community.

Finally, you should not just blindly follow these lineups. Very often guys are ruled out as it gets closer to tip-off and player usage becomes clearer. There are tons of places to check for pregame updates, but I’ve found Rotoworld and Twitter searches work best for me.

 Game Notes:

Before I get to the games, I want to tell you about a pretty cool promo we are rolling out, we are offering a free three-month subscription for anyone who makes a new deposit with one of our partner sites using the referral code “revlis” or by using one of the following links – DraftDay, DraftStreet, and FanDuel – once you make a deposit, enjoy your rotoViz subscription plus higher first-time deposit bonuses. To expedite the process, confirm your deposit by sending an email with your daily fantasy username to revlisfootball@gmail.com.

– With only 3 games tonight, your options are going to be pretty limited. Now more than ever it’s important to use the RotoViz app when constructing your lineups because matchups are key during this time of the NBA season.

– Monta Ellis would be my bet for highest score tonight and he’s not even priced like a premier talent (under $9k on FanDuel and $15k on DraftStreet). According to Rotoworld, Brandon Jennings got into some sort of altercation with coach Jim Boylan and was benched yesterday. This should further solidify Monta’s role as the Bucks go-to scorer.

– Dwight Howard has been continuing to look like the player Los Angeles thought they were getting when they traded for him this past summer and Kobe recently made comments saying that the team needed to find ways to get Dwight more opportunities. He only responded with 54 fantasy points last night. And tonight he gets the last-ranked team in the league against opposing centers. DH12 better be in your lineups.

– Isaiah Thomas caught fire last night, dropping 31 points against Golden State. Again with a short slate of games, Thomas is well worth the mid-tier salary in a +ev matchup against the Suns.

– Pau Gasol looked great in his second game back from injury and his minutes should continue to increase as the Lakers make their final playoff push. Also Antawn Jamison aggravated his wrist in the second half yesterday, which bodes well for Gasol’s minutes.

– Luis Scola is the only player the Suns have in that frontcourt as the team limps to the finish line this season. Sacramento is a good matchup, especially with DeMarcus Cousins’ tendency to get into early foul trouble.

– Injuries will determine much of what I do with any Pacers, as we should have all the lineup information before tip-off. If David West sits again, I’m putting Tyler Hansbrough in all of my lineups, but if he plays I’m rolling with Roy Hibbert. If Danny Granger sits, I’m playing Lance Stephenson.

– Finally, last night was rough for a lot of lineups with Brandon Jennings getting benched, Marc Gasol returning for the surprise start, and Goran Dragic taking the night off for “rest”. Make sure to check Twitter/Rotoworld/etc. prior to lineups locking because the last month of the NBA season is filled with craziness.
