Kobe’s Achilles and Your Daily Hoops Cheatcodes* (4-12-13)

kobe hurt

This is going to be a post for all you daily fantasy basketball junkies. Daily hoops can be extremely exhausting due to the massive day-to-day swings in player usage and match ups so this will serve as a great place to start when constructing your lineup.

These lineups are specific to DraftStreet, Draft Day, and FanDuel, thus it’s important to note that the scoring and position requirements at these sites are slightly different. One player might offer more value at one site, but not another.

I’ve used our extremely useful apps (for DraftStreet go here, Draft Day here, and FanDuel here) as well as some personal strategy to create a lineup for each site. I’ll be putting up two lineups each day on a rotating basis (DS/DD on Monday, DD/FD on Tuesday, FD/DS on Wednesday, and so on). I encourage you to utilize the apps I linked to above as they are some of the most valuable tools available in the daily fantasy community.

Finally, you should not just blindly follow these lineups. Very often guys are ruled out as it gets closer to tip-off and player usage becomes clearer. There are tons of places to check for pregame updates, but I’ve found Rotoworld and Twitter searches work best for me.

Game Notes:

Before I get to the games, I want to tell you about a pretty cool promo we are rolling out, we are offering a free three-month subscription for anyone who makes a new deposit with one of our partner sites using the referral code “revlis” or by using one of the following links – DraftDay, DraftStreet, and FanDuel – once you make a deposit, enjoy your rotoViz subscription plus higher first-time deposit bonuses. – I know you don’t read this post for perspective on the NBA. This is where you come for daily fantasy basketball help and we’ll get to that, but first I wanted to say something quickly about Kobe and his unfortunate season (maybe career?) ending injury last night.

– Seeing Kobe go down was horrible for basketball everywhere. Rooting against the Lakers is fun, but seeing Kobe play is what makes it fun. He hits shots he has no business taking. He’s a champion, a warrior, and one of the best I’ve ever seen play the game. Lost in much of the world of daily fantasy sports is taking the time to appreciate players like Mamba and hey, I’ll certainly miss watching him put up 47 points in 48 minutes for my fantasy team.

– Looking at the four games slated tonight, I’m targeting the Bucks and Magic. All signs are pointing towards Brandon Jennings and Larry Sanders again sitting out meaning Monta Ellis will be throwing up around 400 shots. Ersan Ilyasova and John Henson should also get more opportunities and both have shown they can provide value in the daily game.

– Beno Udrih and Tobias Harris are going to be in a lot of my lineups tonight. Harris has been a monster down the stretch and I’ve been riding him regardless of his salary. My instinct is usually to avoid relying on anecdotal evidence, but I’ve found that awful teams like the Magic lean heavily on their younger guys to see what they’ve got for the future. For better or worse, Tobias Harris will be on my squad.

– Kemba Walker is a different guy at home, as evidence by his home/road splits. Ellis and J.J. Redick will probably just concede open shots to Kemba so they can save their energy for offense. Look, I don’t gamble on NBA over/unders, but I’ve watched these guys play basketball before – take out a second mortgage and pound the over. I also think Gerald Henderson is a sneaky good play in this one.

– Our RotoViz app has Nikola Pekovic at the top of the list of best values tonight, but there’s a good chance he doesn’t play. It’s times like these that I break out the equally useful Back-Up Explorer app and can see that Greg Stiemsma offers great value in Pekovic’s place.

– Stiemsma’s teammate, Andrei Kirilenko, is finally healthy and will give you good, but not great numbers across every statistical category. If you are looking for an off-the-wall play, I think AK47 is your man.

– Finally, I’ve talked a lot over the past couple weeks about how poor the Suns’ frontcourt is, but with Pekovic out tonight for Minnesota, Luis Scola should be able to handle Stiemsma on the offensive end.
