Nene Hilario and Your Daily Hoops Cheatcodes* (4-3-13)

nene

This is going to be a post for all you daily fantasy basketball junkies. Daily hoops can be extremely exhausting due to the massive day-to-day swings in player usage and match ups so this will serve as a great place to start when constructing your lineup.

These lineups are specific to DraftStreet, Draft Day, and FanDuel, thus it’s important to note that the scoring and position requirements at these sites are slightly different. One player might offer more value at one site, but not another.

I’ve used our extremely useful apps (for DraftStreet go here, Draft Day here, and FanDuel here) as well as some personal strategy to create a lineup for each site. I’ll be putting up two lineups each day on a rotating basis (DS/DD on Monday, DD/FD on Tuesday, FD/DS on Wednesday, and so on). I encourage you to utilize the apps I linked to above as they are some of the most valuable tools available in the daily fantasy community.

Finally, you should not just blindly follow these lineups. Very often guys are ruled out as it gets closer to tip-off and player usage becomes clearer. There are tons of places to check for pregame updates, but I’ve found Rotoworld and Twitter searches work best for me.

Game Notes:

Before I get to the games, I want to tell you about a pretty cool promo we are rolling out, we are offering a free three-month subscription for anyone who makes a new deposit with one of our partner sites using the referral code “revlis” or by using one of the following links – DraftDay, DraftStreet, and FanDuel – once you make a deposit, enjoy your rotoViz subscription plus higher first-time deposit bonuses. To expedite the process, confirm your deposit by sending an email with your daily fantasy username to revlisfootball@gmail.com.

– With 12 games slated for tonight, I’m sure we are going to get some more late-season foolishness with players getting the night off and teams tanking for a higher draft pick (looking at you Phoenix). Make sure to check all the usual media outlets for any late scratches. Your lineups will surely change between the time you read this and tip-off, but this is a very good place to start.

– Toronto has been god-awful at defending the center position over its last 10 games. Emeka Okafor and Nene Hilario basically play a hybrid PF/C position so I would expect both to take advantage of the matchup. Nene comes in as the best value tonight according to our RotoViz app so I’m leaning his way. The algorithm’s streak of 5-straight picks going for at least 35 fantasy points came to an end last night with Pau Gasol falling short of the mark with 28 points, but the system works.  If you’ve been utilizing the app, your bankroll is pretty darn good evidence.

– The Bucks have actually improved defending opposing centers from a fantasy perspective over the last 10 games, but they still present a top-five matchup for Nikola Pekovic and Andrei Kirilenko. I’m a little weary of playing AK47 due to his inconsistent play, but his salary is cheap enough on FanDuel to warrant the gamble. Pekovic has been rock solid when in the lineup, but I would double-check to make sure he’s over his ankle injury. For what it’s worth, he did play 41 minutes against Boston on Monday.

– Jeremy Lin is a solid value play on FanDuel, regardless of James Harden’s Wednesday night status. If the Beard doesn’t dress, Lin becomes a must-play across all sites, but for now I’d limit him to sites that haven’t inflated his salary because of Monday night.

– The Clippers starters have been completely lackadaisical during their recent three-game losing streak and leading the way has been Blake Griffin. As the game goes on, Griffin looks more and more disinterested in fighting for rebounds or looking to stay aggressive on the offensive end. He hasn’t gone for over 26 fantasy points in his last seven games. But guess what? I’m recommending Griffin tonight. The Suns have simply given up. At $13k on DraftStreet and $7,100 on FanDuel, Blake is totally worth the risk because his floor is still about 20 points, which won’t cripple your lineup. Also, he came back from the future and told me to start him.

– Another example of a guy whose salary is just too low, Kenneth Faried gets an interesting matchup against Utah. He struggled with foul trouble in Friday’s game vs. Brooklyn, playing just 19 minutes, but the Manimal should bounce back to his normal level of production of around 25 fantasy points.

– Over his past eight games Brandon Bass is averaging 11 points, almost 6 boards and over a block per game, shooting an extremely efficient 57.6% from the field. He will continue to provide sneaky value while KG misses time.

– Finally, I will be giving out my thoughts on different value plays via Twitter (@RevlisFootball) as we get closer to tip.
