Joe 2 Pro: Week 14 Recap and Week 15 Plays

This article is simple. I primarily run down my entire cash game thought process for the week. I won’t list plays for the sake of listing them. If I know early in the week which guy I am starting at QB, he’s the only guy I’ll mention.

I’m going to list my whole player pool at each position. Then I will write up the one guy at each position I feel the most strongly about. Think of the first article as a rough draft. As news happens throughout the week, I’ll post an updated player pool on Friday or Saturday.

Week 14 went quite well for my team overall. It might have been the first Sunday all year where I was tilt free; at least until Eli Manning played. I was in contention to take down the $300 single entry GPP on DraftKings if Manning even had an average game of around 15 points. Unfortunately, he was awful. The lineup was still good enough for a 12th place finish. Overall, I can’t complain about this week. It has been a rollercoaster year and it was nice to see all the receivers hit this week and Le’Veon Bell anchoring this lineup was wonderful. The ownership percentages are from the $25 double up on DK. You can see with Bell at 61 percent owned, it may have been tough for the 40 percent who didn’t have him to profit. Week 15 will be interesting with David Johnson priced up to 10.1K and 9.8K for Bell.

After my three-week losing streak, I’ve finally been able to fully recover. My overall strategy hasn’t changed too much other than I have switched to running a single lineup on DK instead of playing both DK and FanDuel. Even in GPPs, I’m just running my cash lineup. I’ve been sticking to single entry GPPs with the highest dollar amount I can afford and working my way down until I hit my GPP percentage. These last few weeks, I’ve been able to afford the $300 and $100 single entry GPPs. The $300 cash line is often smaller than the double ups and 50/50s that I have been looking at each week. High dollar GPPs with very few people in them are my favorite to enter. Three weeks left, let’s hope we can keep this rolling!

Week 15 Plays

  • Matt Ryan
  • Tyrod Taylor
  • Philip Rivers
  • Colin Kaepernick – This is looking like another pay down at quarterback week, in hopes of jamming in Bell and Johnson again. Kaepernick is priced at just $5,800 on DraftKings against Atlanta. The Falcons rank 27th overall in defensive DVOA, including 23rd against the pass. The Falcons also rank 24th in aFPA to opposing QBs. The 49ers are currently 11.5-point underdogs with an implied team total of just 20 points, so there may be some risk here.
  • Trevor Siemian – If you really want to dig deep, Siemian is just $5200 on DraftKings against a Patriots defense that ranks 27th in pass DVOA and second in rush DVOA, along with 28th in aFPA against quarterbacks. The Broncos are struggling to run the ball with Devontae Booker and Justin Forsett, which could give Siemian a safe floor of pass attempts. There isn’t much risk for $5200. It appears Siemian didn’t face any setbacks with his ankle as he attempted 51 passes and threw for 334 yards and one touchdown against the Titans. Kaep and Siemian are very close for me which is why I wrote up both.

Running Backs

  • Le’Veon Bell
  • David Johnson
  • LeSean McCoy
  • Ezekiel Elliott
  • T.J. Yeldon
  • Kenneth Dixon
  • Kenneth Farrow (if Melvin Gordon is out) – Filling in for Gordon last week, Farrow strung together 55 yards on 16 carries against a tough Panthers run defense. This week the Chargers take part in one of the highest over/under games (51.5.) Farrow is an obvious value stepping in for an injured starter. He may lose some third-down work to Ronnie Hillman, but if he’s given similar goal line volume to Gordon, then he projects very well against a Raiders defense that ranks 27th in aFPA against running backs and 26th in rush DVOA.

Wide Receivers

  • Mike Evans (slow pace concern)
  • Jordy Nelson
  • Demaryius Thomas
  • Emmanuel Sanders
  • Adam Thielen
  • J.J. Nelson (if Michael Floyd benched) – Keeping the theme of value plays going to try and reach the top-tier running backs, if Floyd is benched due to his DUI, Nelson would step in as the primary outside receiver for the Cardinals. John Brown’s snaps have been limited due to his sickle cell trait. The Cardinals are in a nice bounceback spot at home against the Saints. Nelson would be a tremendous value play at $3900.
  • Sammy Watkins
  • Marqise Lee
  • Pierre Garcon
  • Aldrick Robinson
  • Michael Crabtree

Tight Ends

  • Travis Kelce
  • Kyle Rudolph
  • Cameron Brate
  • Jermaine Gresham (pure punt)

  • Bills
  • Ravens
  • Jaguars
  • Washington
  • Tampa Bay
