The season is now officially over for the majority of fantasy owners. Those of us streaming defenses in Week 16 closed things out with a fifth place finish from the Chargers, eighth place tie from the Rams and a 19th place finish from the Titans. Through 16 weeks we are averaging a weekly ranking of 12th from our streaming selections. Let’s see if we can carry this momentum for one final week. As you’re likely playing for a championship; congratulations!1

Pittsburgh Steelers | vs. Cleveland Browns, -7 Favorite
For a final hurrah, we will once again target the Browns. Since Week 9, Cleveland has been the easiest offense for DSTs to oppose. During this stretch, the Browns surrendered nearly 14 points per game and an average weekly ranking of six. Furthermore, Pittsburgh has been a top eight DST since the midpoint of the season, averaging eight points per game. As a substantial home favorite, the Steelers are an ideal streamer for the final week of the season.
Oakland Raiders | at Denver Broncos, +2.5 Underdog
The Broncos have been the fifth easiest offense for DSTs to oppose in 2016. In the teams last eight games, opposing DSTs recorded seven top 10 finishes and averaged eight points. When playing the Raiders in Week 9, the team surrendered seven fantasy points and Oakland finished as the week’s 10th best DST. The Raiders have been solid since the midpoint of the season, averaging nearly eight points per contest and a weekly ranking of 12th. As a result, the team was a top 10 DST during this time frame. With the Broncos no longer in playoff contention, it appears the team may turn the offense over to rookie Paxton Lynch. Regardless of who is under center, it seems likely that, at the very least, Oakland should be able to post a solid outing as a defensive streamer.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | vs. Carolina Panthers, -6 Favorite
On the season, Tampa Bay is ranked as DST nine and has averaged eight points per game.2 In the teams last eight games, it has averaged two and a half sacks, an interception and a fumble. As a result, the team is highly ranked in a number of defensive categories that drive fantasy scoring. When the Buccaneers met the Panthers in Week 5, the team forced four turnovers, allowed only 14 points and accumulated nine fantasy points.
The Bucs will have a good chance of repeating this performance on Sunday. The Panthers are allowing opposing DSTs to score eight points per game, nearly two and a half sacks, and two turnovers. Seven of the 15 defenses that faced the Panthers finished in the weekly top 10 and though the team has performed well in a handful of games, opponents are averaging a weekly ranking of fourteen. Playing as a home favorite, with a long-shot chance of making the playoffs, the Buccaneers deserve streaming consideration for Week 17.
With our final article for the 2016 season now complete, I plan on reviewing my process and results in the coming weeks. Once I’ve had a chance to collect my findings, I plan on summarizing and sharing. As always, thanks for reading and best of luck!
