NFL Draft 2024: Rookie Draft Tiers – A Live Day 3 Update

Blair Andrews is updating his rookie rankings live during Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Here he presents his rankings in the form of a four-round tiered rookie draft. Follow along for updates on player movement and value shifts as Day 3 progresses.

Round 1

J.J. McCarthy leapfrogs Drake Maye by landing in a much better immediate situation. Throwing to one of the best receiving groups in the NFL should help him start fast, whereas Maye seems destined to sit behind Jacoby Brissett for at least the beginning of 2024. If Maye does come off the bench in his rookie year, the lack of offensive weapons in New England threatens to torpedo his career before it even gets going.
Denver drafted Bo Nix at No. 12 overall and then landed his former teammate Troy Franklin in the fourth. Franklin’s slide drops him out of the first round, but Nix’s ascension bumps him up into Round 1.
Jonathon Brooks’ landing spot isn’t ideal — you never want to be a running back on a team that can’t move the ball. His Year 1 value is likely to depend on his pass-catching skills. Luckily, that is something he showed he can do at the college level. The fact that he’s likely the Day 1 starter for Carolina means you can’t let him slip out of Round 1.
