Kevin Szafraniec outlines Romeo Doubs’ potential in the New England offense after the wide receiver was signed by the Patriots to a four-year, $68.0M deal in free agency.
The Patriots vastly outperformed expectations in 2025, largely due to the heroics of their young franchise quarterback, Drake Maye. Yet despite making it to the Super Bowl, there are still plenty of holes on the roster that need addressing this offseason. One spot of emphasis is surrounding Maye with better pass catchers. But with NFL franchises reluctant to part with top-flight receivers, the best that the Patriots could manage at the start of free agency was to offer former Packer Romeo Doubs $17.0M per year (per Spotrac) to come to New England.
While Doubs is an adequate NFL wideout, he isn’t anyone’s idea of an alpha wide receiver. But Maye lifted up an underdog group of receiving talent in 2025, and it wouldn’t be crazy to believe that he will do the same again next season. Is Doubs in line to be the next fantasy wideout to benefit from an efficiency boost courtesy of the Patriots’ passing game?
