Will Added Weapons and a New Offense Turn This Undervalued Young QB Into the Next Joe Burrow? NFL Offseason Primer, Part 7
Image Credit: Ian Johnson/Icon Sportswire. Pictured: Joe Burrow.

Hope springs eternal in the NFL offseason, as all the scorecards are set back to zero, and every team tries to figure out how to engineer a playoff run. The prospects of reaching the postseason are more realistic for some franchises than others, but the large amount of moving pieces during the NFL offseason can change a team’s outlook in a hurry.

After starting his career with two top-eight fantasy finishes in his first three seasons, Joe Burrow took a step back in 2023. It is true that he was only able to play in 10 games before sustaining a wrist injury that ended his season. But even when Burrow was on the field, he only averaged the 26th-most fantasy points per game among quarterbacks.

Fast forward to 2024, and Burrow came back with a vengeance on his way to finishing as the second-highest-scoring QB in fantasy.

While Burrow found himself thriving in 2024, another QB who looked like a lock to join the NFL’s elite saw a steep decline in production. Like Burrow, this young QB was surrounded by a talented group of skill position players, but also played behind an offensive line that failed to protect him when it mattered most. Now in a new offense with an evolving supporting cast, will this young QB — available several rounds later than Burrow in the FFPC’s Never-Too-Early Best Ball Tournament — make a Burrow-like return to glory in 2025?

How Much Should We Be Discounting Emeka Egbuka Based On His Landing Spot in Tampa Bay?

After arriving at Ohio State as an elite recruit, Emeka Egbuka was never able to put together a true breakout season despite staying in school for four years. However, because he played alongside multiple five-star prospects, his lack of top-end statistics could be partially explained away. Seeing Egbuka land with an NFL team where he would have a primary role on Day 1 could have…...

Will George Pickens Bring Excitement, Aggravation, or Both to the Dallas Offense?

Despite an obvious need to add wide receivers to their offense to help ease the burden on CeeDee Lamb, Dallas did not add any pass catchers in the 2025 NFL Draft. A couple of weeks after the draft, the Cowboys rectified their shortcoming by trading a 2026 third-round pick plus a 2027 fifth-rounder to the Steelers for George Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick. ⚠️…...

Has Pittsburgh Finally Replaced Le’Veon Bell, Or Is Kaleb Johnson Destined for a Timeshare?

Le’Veon Bell was not an elite prospect coming out of Michigan State but showed enough to be drafted by the Steelers in the middle of the second round of the 2013 NFL draft. His athletic testing was not overly impressive but still solid for a 230-pound back. Once in the NFL, Bell put together a strong rookie season before taking over the league in Year…...
