2017 NFL Draft Prospect Preview: Courtland Sutton

The Southern Methodist University Mustangs failed to qualify for a bowl as they finished this season with a 5-7  record. This kept their star wide receiver, Courtland Sutton, from performing on a national stage this bowl season…....

The Small School Tyler Boyd? SEMO ST WR Paul McRoberts

The only consensus on this year’s wide receiver class is that there seems to be no consensus. The RotoViz Scouting Index has seen a pretty decent fluctuation with each new update, and we’ve spilled a bit of ink on most of the 34 WR prospects in the most recent update…....

Update: The Case for Leonte Carroo

The Box Score Scout App has been updated, which means we can revisit some of our bowl season prospect write ups. Returning to Leonte Carroo, here is a look at some of the interesting takeaways from the app. Production-Only Comps This is a solid list of comps. Obviously, names like Dez Bryant and Calvin Johnson leap out at you and are reason for much excitement. It’s also pretty promising that every name on this list that played more than one season in the league, save for David Terrell, recorded a top 24 season.1 Hakeem Nicks also recorded two top 12 seasons while Braylon…...

Leonte Carroo: RotoViz Reach or Bona Fide WR1

With Bowl Season winding down, our Bowl Prospect series has concluded, but I had such a blast looking into those guys that I wanted to keep the fun going. The most enticing prospect I found was Rutgers wide receiver, Leonte Carroo…....

7 Takeaways for Week 17 – The QB Opportunity Report

In our series of Opportunity Reports, RotoViz will examine the weekly production of position groups through the lens of the Fantasy Efficiency App. A primer on how to use this app can be found in the first report. We’re examining opportunity and efficiency using historical line of scrimmage data to establish the expected fantasy point value of attempts (and comparing actual fantasy points to that expected value). Here’s a quick guide to the acronyms from the app: paEP – Passing Expected Points paFPOE – Passing Fantasy Points Over Expectation paFPOEPA – Passing Fantasy Points Over Expectation Per Attempt Some observations…...

2016 NFL Draft Prospect: Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State

On New Year’s Day, get some hair of the dog, nurse your hangover and check out the Fiesta Bowl featuring the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Prospect Background Michael Thomas is a redshirt junior wide receiver at Ohio State. He checks in as the fifth ranked WR on the most recent update of the RotoViz Scouting Index after ranking third in the debut of the index. Thomas has protypical WR size as…...

The University of North Carolina Tar Heels will take on the Baylor University Bears on Tueday December 29th in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando Florida. Let’s take a look at his draft profile. Player Background Hollins is only a junior, but is already 22. He spent a year out of football after high school before walking on and redshirting at UNC in 2012. His first real college production came in his…...

On Saturday December 26th, Jordan Payton and the UCLA Bruins will face off against Nebraska in the Foster Farms Bowl. This ranking seems about right for Payton. Let’s take a look at his draft resume. Production Payton has played in all but three games of his college career…...

Bowl Prospect Preview: Cayleb Jones, WR, Arizona

Bowl Season kicks off this Saturday when the Arizona Wildcats and the New Mexico Lobos face off in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. Cayleb Jones of the Wildcats is the most fantasy relevant prospect for the ‘cats. Jones isn’t a very highly heralded prospect, coming in as the 29th ranked wide receiver in the latest update of the Rotoviz Rookie Scouting Index. He was a four star recruit coming out of high school and played his freshman year at Texas before transferring to and red shirting a year at Arizona. Jones has good size at 6 – 3 and weighs in at…...
