NOTE: Our tools will be updated each week as soon as data from our stats provider is available. Generally, data from Sunday’s games will be available early Tuesday afternoon. For an immediate look at the games from the previous weekend, please check out our Monday Review tool which includes a collection of preliminary stats.
While the most common way to project players is using past production, you can also make assumptions based on the previous seasons from a team’s offensive coordinator. The narrative surrounding Kyle Shanahan’s arrival suggests 2015 will be particularly exciting for an already dominant Julio Jones. There’s now a competing narrative suggesting Shanahan’s presence may be irrelevant. I think I can show this isn’t the case…...
In real life, I sometimes have to hire – or fire – people. It’s not personal, it’s business. To keep track of the comings and goings, our corporate HR department tracks annual employee turnover using a simple formula: Separations / Total Positions = Turnover Rate I thought I’d apply the same formula to dynasty fantasy football to see which positions are the most stable. Up next: Running…...
Dr. Jeffrey E. Budoff is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who wades through misleading coach-speak and vague team injury information to offer advice for your fantasy team. Jason Pierre-Paul, the New York Giants star defensive end celebrated this July 4th holiday with literally a truckload of fireworks. Unfortunately, as too commonly happens, he was injured when one of his fireworks exploded. PSA The following is a public service announcement,…...
The first overall pick in 2015 fantasy football drafts should be a wide receiver. But even if you disagree with me on that, someone has to be the first WR drafted. I think you can make a case for six different WRs to be the first WR off the board. Today, I make the case for Antonio Brown. The Knocks Against Brown I mostly want to…...
Just a quick post here to make sure that everyone is aware of the new app on the site that will help you come up with a cheat sheet for your fantasy drafts. This app is powered by our staff projections and allows you to input your own scoring settings and then get a fantasy point projection to compare against various ADP sources. Feel free…...
Auctions can be more art than science at times. In a traditional snake draft, a simple question like, “should I draft Player X?” often isn’t that complicated, but in an auction draft the answer is almost always, “It depends.” Player prices can vary greatly. With that in mind, my best advice for targeting WRs is simply to target WRs that project to be values but also…...
In case you haven’t been following too closely (read: if you have lives outside of fantasy), the staff here at RotoViz has been using the Projection Machine to power some of the Apps on the site. One of the teams under a lot of scrutiny right now is the Denver Broncos. Be it the supposed decline of Peyton Manning or the impact of Gary Kubiak, they…...
Teddy Bridgewater From Vikings.com: The essay pointed out that Bridgewater led all rookie QBs in wins (six), completion percentage (64.4), passing yards per game in starts (230.8) and passer rating (85.3). The “mind-blowing” component is the final component, which is the fifth-highest passer rating by a rookie with at least eight starts since 1990, behind Robert Griffin III (102.4), Russell Wilson (100.0), Ben Roethlisberger (98.1),…...

I have seen the future, and her name is superflex. Superflex Noun | su·per·flex | \ˈsü-pər-fleks\ : a fantasy football league that includes a flex roster spot in which you may start a quarterback, offering fantasy owners the flexibility to start two quarterbacks each week. Who Cares About Quarterbacks? Tell me if you have heard any of these before: “Wait on quarterback.” “Why take a…...

According to the Best Ball ADP App, Lamar Miller is currently being drafted halfway through the third round as the 15th running back off the board in fantasy drafts. Perfect. That makes Miller not only cheap enough to be a bargain, but it makes him a bargain at a point in the draft where talent tends to drop off. Here are three reasons why you should target…...
When we look at drafting a rookie running back, one of the most important factors is the existing barrier to entry. In other words, what is stopping this running back from getting on the field? In Atlanta, I see a unique situation where rookie Tevin Coleman offers a much more compelling profile than incumbent starter Devonta Freeman. Rookie Production In his rookie year, Freeman was…...

Nick Toon From the New Orleans Advocate: “We saw at times last year in practice, even though he’s not receiving reps in the games, certainly we’ve seen his progression, he understands the system well and he’s working hard,” Payton said. “I think the key is just getting snaps, but I think we’ll see his snaps go way up.” Nick Toon has been used sparingly throughout…...
Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor will finish as the number one rookie fantasy football wide receiver in 2015. Head coach Chip Kelly’s offensive scheme has produced a top 15 fantasy wide receiver in each of his two seasons in the NFL. The 2013 Eagles offense propelled DeSean Jackson to a career year. He was replaced in 2014 by a healthy Jeremy Maclin, who also had…...
Over the weekend I did some really simple analysis to try to optimize three defense combos in MFL10 drafts. I used the touchdown/interception differential for every offense in 2014 to estimate offensive strength in 2015. It’s not a perfect measure but it will do for now. Then I calculated the best weekly matchup for every three defense combo for 2015. When you eliminate duplicates there…...
The Dynasty App offers a number of useful features, among them the ability to review dynasty startup ADP and spot situations to exploit, or avoid. Here are 10 players to avoid at their current ADPs, and some recommendations for alternate selections. While I’m writing in the context of a dynasty start up, many of these thoughts apply to redraft leagues as well. Scoring is PPR. Quarterback Matthew…...
A little over a week ago I dug into a mound of stats – most of them courtesy of our colleagues at Pro Football Focus – and when I came out on the other side, no I didn’t find myself in China, but with an interesting stat that I so boringly named Catchable Pass Rate. That article showed you how quarterbacks deliver the football to all…...
