Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays of the Day – April 4

daily fantasy basketball

The end is near. The tank is in full swing for nearly a third of the league while the playoff competitors jockey for seeding. Every game matters one way or the other, and the results could shape the respective franchises for years to come.

Point Guard

Reggie Jackson vs PHI – $5,800 on FD, $5,700 on DK

Jackson returned from his ankle injury a couple of weeks ago and has looked excellent. Over his past four games, he’s averaging 28.3 minutes, 19.8 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds. That stat line puts him in prime position to pay off big, especially with Blake Griffin out. Stan Van Gundy has not been shy in letting the veteran ball-handler chuck it as he has now taken at least 15 shots in each of those four contests.

D.J. Augustin vs DAL – $5,700 on FD, $5,800 on DK

The veteran point guard has been starting since the organization decided to move on from Elfrid Payton at the trade deadline. Augustin has performed adequately, taking advantage of the ample minutes resulting from several injuries that have struck the team. He’s been a consistent fantasy producer, scoring over 25 DK points in six of his past 10 games. There isn’t a ton of upside tied to Augustin, but he should provide a stable floor.

Shooting Guard

J.J. Redick @ DET – $5,000 on FD and DK

Redick has been one of the most important players for the 76ers this season and has provided an added scoring boost to the team with Joel Embiid out. He’s bumped up his shooting total considerably over the past three games, averaging over 15 shots. That looks like a sustainable figure with the offense at a loss for scoring punch. At his typical supreme efficiency, he should easily pay off value, especially when you consider that since Embiid has been out with injury Redick has scored above 25 DK points in every contest.

Ben McLemore @ NO – $3,800 on FD, $3,300 on DK

McLemore has been a major disappointment since his days in his Sacramento, and he failed to show any improvement with the change of scenery in Memphis. The former Jayhawk has been given a bit more playing time with the array of injuries in the backcourt of the Grizzlies. That’s provided a higher floor and more opportunity to launch at will. He has taken double-digit shots in back-to-back games and should easily pay off at that volume given his price.

Small Forward

Kyle Kuzma vs SA – $6,500 on FD, $7,200 on DK

The Lakers are dealing with a couple of major injuries as they head toward the end of the season. They’re currently without Isaiah Thomas, Lonzo Ball, and Brandon Ingram, leaving Kuzma as the main scoring option on the floor. He’s averaging more than 17 shots over his past six games while posting at least 30 DK points in all but one of those starts. The depth issues at forward have forced Luke Walton to rely heavily on Kuzma (39-plus minutes in six of his past 10). Playing a ton and shooting repeatedly are two things you love to see with players you roster.

Justise Winslow @ ATL – $4,700 on FD, $5,100 on DK

Winslow has been a disappointment since the Heat selected him in the 2015 draft. The player once worth four first-round picks has dealt with injury and struggled to develop his offensive game. Regardless, he’s made tiny steps forward this season and has shown a bit of zest in his overall play. That’s translated to his fantasy production where Winslow has scored over 20 DK points in six of 10. The floor with Winslow is always scary, but the “hits” are worth it at his price.

Power Forward

Anthony Davis vs MEM – $12,300 on FD, $11,800 on DK

You can all breathe a sigh of relief after knowing that the brow will indeed be intact for the foreseeable future. Davis has been his usual stellar self even though the Pelicans are struggling to keep their playoff hopes alive. He’s hit over 50 DK points in six of the past eight games and should be able to destroy the Grizzlies down low. Marc Gasol has no hopes of covering Davis, and any other forward will be too small to try and pit against the big man.

Anthony Tolliver vs PHI – $5,200 on FD, $5,500 on DK

With Griffin out, Tolliver has been able to take advantage of the extra minutes. He’s played at least 30 minutes over the past three games and should continue to see the added playing time. Tolliver has scored at least 23 DK points in each of the past fives games and will provide a solid floor on this slate.

Center

Dewayne Dedmon vs MIA – $6,200 on FD, $5,500 on DK

It’ll be important to monitor his status after he was a very late scratch in last night’s contest. There’s no guarantee he plays tonight, but if he does, Dedmon will be an excellent play. He’s scored over 29 DK points in seven of his past eight games and has averaged 30 minutes over that span. Dedmon’s 3-point shooting has unlocked his scoring, and he should be a hot commodity on the center mark if he opts out of his deal.
