Week 11 QB Rankings, Streaming Options, and 2-QB Plays

Giana Pacinelli provides QB streaming options, 2-QB plays, and overall QB rankings for Week 11 of the 2019 fantasy football season.

Week 10 was one of the most exciting weeks of football this season. And that was in spite of starting quarterbacks that included Jeff Driskel, Brian Hoyer, and Ryan Finley.

Mitchell Trubisky finally showed some signs of life with three touchdowns, although he only threw for 173 yards against Detroit. Sam Darnold versus Daniel Jones was a fantasy frenzy despite both teams having disappointing seasons, and Patrick Mahomes picked up right where he left off. After missing the last two weeks with a knee injury, Mahomes put up 446 passing yards and three touchdowns against the Titans.

And then, of course, there’s Lamar Jackson

Jackson’s 47-yard rushing touchdown will be gawked at for years to come, and was his fourth consecutive game with a rushing touchdown (he also had three passing). He has been compared to Michael Vick at every stage of his career, but in this writer’s opinion, his accuracy already puts him ahead.

If you took my advice this week, it paid off. Daniel Jones finished as the week’s second leading fantasy scorer with 308 yards and four touchdowns and Ryan Tannehill is continuing to prove doubters wrong with a fifth consecutive top 12 fantasy quarterback day. Jimmy Garoppolo went toe-to-toe with MVP probable Russell Wilson in an exciting Monday Night Football game, though his three turnovers stifled his fantasy production.

Onto Week 11, Green Bay, New York Giants, Seattle and Tennessee all have the week off. Jacoby Brissett is expected to return, Dwayne Haskins has been tapped as the Redskins starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, and Mason Rudolph will look to extend the Steelers four-game win streak (yes, really).

2-QB Pick of the Week – Derek Carr vs CIN

Ownership (Yahoo): 45%
Ownership (ESPN): 36.6%
GLSP: 17.9

While going mostly unnoticed, Derek Carr is having himself a career year with a 70.8% completion percentage, 104.4 quarterback rating, and a 14:4 TD:INT ratio going into the 11th week of the season. Though that hasn’t translated into consistent fantasy performances, he has proven he can perform with the right matchup. Carr is averaging 14.8 fantasy points per game on the season and 17.95 in the last four weeks.

Up next, he has a prime matchup against a Bengals defense that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to the quarterback position this season and the second-most in the last month. If you’re looking for a Jared Goff replacement, Carr has equally as intriguing matchups through the fantasy playoffs — making him a multi-week top 2-QB option if still available, and if you trust him.

Favorite Streamer – Kyle Allen vs ATL

Ownership (Yahoo): 12.1%
Ownership (ESPN): 10.2%
GLSP: 17.4

We’re still trying to figure out who Kyle Allen is. He racked up five wins, seven touchdowns and zero turnovers in his first five games, then quickly hit a speed bump against a tough San Francisco defense with three turnovers, and is now starting to roll again. Last week against the Packers showed that Allen’s future is probably somewhere in the middle — he became just the second quarterback to throw for over 300 yards against the Packers this season though still turned the ball over and failed to deliver a win.

Fortunately for fantasy owners, the 300-plus passing yards is really what matters is what moves the needle. Still owned in less than a quarter of fantasy leagues, Allen is positioned for another nice fantasy performance against Atlanta. While the Saints made the Falcons defense look good last week, it doesn’t negate the fact that the secondary has given up the fifth-most fantasy points to the quarterback position this season and allowed five QB1 performances.

While we wait to forecast where Allen’s future holds as a consistent fantasy option, we can bet on him as an ideal streaming option this week.

Bounceback Candidate – Nick Foles at IND

Ownership (Yahoo): 21%
Ownership (ESPN): 9.7%
GLSP: 13.0

Since Nick Foles was injured in Week 1 and placed on injured reserve, the Gardner Mustache Minshew train sped out of the station and seemed destined for a season-long road trip. That is, until it wasn’t. Foles was activated from IR and handed back his starting role during the bye week and will return under center in time for a divisional matchup against Indianapolis.

Now, it’s hard to predict how Foles-the-Jag will perform given the limited sample size we saw in just one game, but there are still signs that point to bounceback potential. Jacksonville’s receiving corps is fairly deep between D.J. Chark, Dede Westbrook, and Chris Conley. Though the matchup against the Colts isn’t the most ideal, it does help Foles projections that the Jags have the fourth-easiest schedule for the rest of the season and through the fantasy playoffs. Foles represents the best Hail Mary attempt for those still struggling to find a fit at the quarterback position, particularly in 2-QB and superflex leagues.
