Another week in the NFL, another double-digit target week for Michael Thomas and Julian Edelman. Some things just don’t change.
Here’s the full list of WRs who commanded at least 10 targets in the last week of NFL action.
Double-Digit Targets in Week 12
Terry McLaurin saw a career-high 12 targets in his side’s win over the Detroit Lions. He responded with his best yardage total since Week 6. But his catch rate of 41.7% was the lowest of the year. After getting off to something of a hot start to his NFL career, the last five games have been sobering for McLaurin.
The elevation of his former Ohio State teammate Dwayne Haskins to the starting quarterback job hasn’t helped McLaurin either. The pair were “supposed” to have inbuilt chemistry after making sweet music for the Buckeyes in 2018. It is yet to show itself in the NFL.
Jarvis Landry has seen double-digit targets in four of his last five games. Sunday was, without doubt, his best game of the season. It was his second 100-yard game of the year. It also marked the fourth game in a row in which Landry had found the end zone. Landry has five scores in his last four games. These scores have helped to bolster his fantasy output. Indeed, since Week 9 no WR has scored more PPR points than Landry.
When two Atlanta Falcons WRs see double-digit targets, you would usually expect one of them to be Julio Jones. Jones had an injury-affected game against the Buccaneers on Sunday however. This led to a big bump in targets for Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage. Jones is likely to play on Thursday against the Saints. But Gage has slowly become a larger part of the offense in the absence of Austin Hooper.
He hasn’t exactly been a superstar, but he has chipped in from a fantasy point of view. If Jones isn’t at full health or is forced to miss the game completely, then Gage could be in for another heavy workload. He may not be a terrible WR3 option regardless.
