20 Rounds of Death – Every Pick from the Top Experts and What the Roster Construction Explorer Has to Say About Them

The MFL10 of Death is annually one of my favorite leagues. Drafting against these experts is an absolute blast, and I want to thank Pat Thorman for putting it together and donating the proceeds to charity. Each season I like to break down all 20 rounds to get a feel for how my compatriots are playing. It goes without saying that I hold all of them in high regard, and a round-by-round analysis helps me understand their thinking for the current year.

I also like to look at the picks in the context of the current Best Ball Workshop. Do some owners use patterns that fit our lessons? Are certain teams likely to benefit from tactics that follow the Roster Construction Explorer? How do owners in the back half of the draft adjust their tactics to balance playing from behind?

For each round I break down the best pick, the most provocative pick, and my pick. It’s a fun way to explore the draft and dive into some of our player research.

Shawn has finished in the top three of the MFL10 of Death in each of the last five years, winning in 2015, 2017, and 2018. Shawn describes himself as one of the world’s luckiest fantasy players.
