Win The Waiver Wire – Week 12

In this edition of Win the Waiver Wire, Dave Caban shares his top waiver targets for Week 12 in seasonal fantasy football leagues.

We’ve reached the point in the season where some teams are mathematically eliminated, but hopefully, you’re not among them. Stay active even if your team is on life support; your next waiver claim or two could combine with a few of your stars to help you make an improbable run. If your team is in great shape, you still need to make claims to make sure you have strong roster depth and also to prevent your competitors from catching you.

As Curtis mentioned last week, we won’t be including FAAB percentage recommendations as it’s really hard to know the budgets that your league mates have in reserves at this point in the season. Instead, we’ll be simply listing players in order of preference or adding commentary regarding when to make a situational claim. Having said that, my advice would be if you know that you really need a particular player then you should be very aggressive.

*For the purposes of this week’s article, I’ll be using ESPN “percentage rostered” data. Players are listed in the order of priority, by position. To make the most of my time and yours, I only provide analysis for players who are available in around 50% of leagues.

Quarterback

JARED GOFF (AVAILABLE IN 54.6% OF LEAGUES)

Coming off a 26.8-point performance, Jared Goff has now finished as a QB1 in 40% of games. He’s eclipsed 30.0 points just a single time but faces The Cardinals in Week 13, Jets in Week 14, and Seahawks in Week 16. This bodes well for Goff who just put up 376 yards and three touchdowns against the Buccaneers.

The RotoViz GLSP expects Goff to go score 20.4 points against the 49ers this weekend and projects him as a top-12 option. Los Angeles is 7-3 and with back-to-back wins against the Seahawks and Buccaneers, the Rams are in the hunt and will remain competitive.

Goff ranks seventh in attempts and completions, eighth in completion percentage, and has passed for more than 300 yards in three straight games.
