Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley (back) had a positive medical checkup with doctors on Friday. Doctors said that the potential first-rounder’s recovery from back surgery in mid-March is on pace. “I got a lot of positive feedback from the NFL doctors,” Farley said. “The NFL doctors confirmed I would be ready for the season, and they told me this is definitely not a chronic thing.” Farley opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19. He’s expected to excel in man coverage, and he has great ball skills, size and footwork to make a smooth transition to the NFL. NFL.com draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah has Farley ranked as the No. 17 overall prospect for this year’s draft. If Farley’s recovery stays on pace, he should be ready for training camp this summer and the start of his rookie season.
