Dalton Schultz Stays in Texas, but Will He Be Fantasy Relevant on the Texans?

Dalton Schultz played out the 2022 season on the franchise tag for the Dallas Cowboys. This status did not lead to a long-term pact between the two, and with free agency a week-old Schultz finally found a home for 2023. But there is a chance it is only for 2023. Schultz inked a one-year, $9m deal with the Houston Texans, becoming the second 2022 tagged tight end to sign a one-year contract during this offseason. (Mike Gesicki played out the 2022 campaign with the Dolphins on the franchise tag. He signed with the New England Patriots a few days ago.)

Schultz has been productive over the last few seasons. But it is hard to see him building on his reputation in “real life” or status in fantasy football in his new home. The Texans have changed so much since the end of the 2022 campaign.

2022 Review

As I’ve already mentioned, Schultz has been one of the most productive players from his position group over the last three years. Since stepping in for an injured Blake Jarwin in 2020, Schultz has enjoyed himself as a regular contributor for the Cowboys.
