Is C.J. Stroud In for Another Disappointing Season? Offensive Lines and Their Fantasy Impact, Week 2

Thomas Emerick launches his weekly offensive line continuity series and reveals how these crucial trench battles could give you the perfect buy-low opportunities in Week 2.

Each week this column will update offensive line continuity totals and starting lineups for every team while highlighting a few developments that could impact fantasy outcomes. There’s no better time than September to text league mates and move players, and offensive lines could be one factor they underweight in hold/sell decisions.

I’ve assessed offensive line continuity over the past couple decades and index heavily on units that possess continuity in terms of both a season on the field and a full offseason together. Check out the earlier parts of this series on how offensive line continuity impacts offensive production. This new weekly in-season column factors this and evaluates turbulence in the trenches as the 2025 season progresses.

Offensive line continuity by team entering the 2025 season

It’s important not to over-index on Week 1 outcomes, particularly at a position where performance is uncommonly dependent on the menace lining across. But when it comes to bold fantasy football transactions, we’ll want to track and make calls off incomplete information. It’s exhilarating really, and down the road these trades can make the difference between fourth place and the alternate universe where you made that trade and won that league.

The three offensive lines entering Week 1 with a sole returning starter are very much worth a look heading into Week 2. Did you overpay for Nico Collins, Justin Jefferson, or TreVeyon Henderson? There are no definitive answers to be had at this stage of the season, but maybe it’s on your mind. One clue is in the performance of the turned-over offensive line.

Does Joe Alt’s Return Make Justin Herbert a Top Fantasy Option? Offensive Lines and Their Fantasy Impact, Week 9

The tip of the Chargers’ spear had been dulled without both Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater. Passing efficiency had slowed in late September and October for a unit that produced bona fide fantasy starters through the league’s first month in Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, and Quentin Johnston. Slater is done for 2025, but Alt’s return last Thursday generates a sustainable second wind for a Bolts offense now helping…...

Jahmyr Gibbs’ Turnaround with Taylor Decker’s Return and 6 More Fantasy-Relevant OL Changes: Offensive Lines and the Fantasy Impacts, Week 8

A much-needed week for the Jahmyr Gibbs bags started with Taylor Decker returning at left tackle for the Detroit Lions. Decker had missed the previous two weeks, and the ROI on that top-5 pick nosedived. Gibbs went off on Monday night, mostly because he’s very good, though it also helped that the tackle play improved dramatically. The previous two games saw different LT backups in Giovanni Manu…...

Zach Tom’s Return Unleashes Green Bay’s Explosive Potential: Offensive Lines and Their Fantasy Impact, Week 7

Packers RT Zach Tom played sparingly before the bye due to an oblique injury, which became a real problem when Jordan Love and company faced reasonable opposition in Cleveland and Detroit. Green Bay’s fourth-year starter was among the top right tackles last season, and last week his return ushered in one solitary pressure and zero QB hits from the RT assignment. While injuries hammer the receiver position for Green…...
