Thomas Emerick launches his 12th offseason offensive line continuity series.
James Cook is a special talent and, at the same time, reaped the benefit from years of continuity on the Bills’ starting offensive line, culminating in Buffalo’s best year up front since the ’90s. And this decade reminds us that getting to the Super Bowl is no small feat.
Like that quartet of AFC champion squads, this Bills squad is finding unreal production from their Thurman Thomas analog, even if you’d like a bit more involvement in the pass game. On the ground, however, Cook was the only back to hit 3.0 yards before contact per attempt among the 10 backs receiving more than 250 carries, as Buffalo returned all five starting offensive linemen for a unit that ranked outside the top 20 in spending at the position.

Buffalo will replace David Edwards after he got paid by New Orleans, but are poised to stay on the strong side of the OL continuity spectrum in 2026 as fifth-year jumbo package T Alec Anderson takes over at left guard.

Quinshon Judkins got lapped by Cook in average yards before contact with just 1.4 in 2026, which totally tracks as a precursor to shaking up the starting five.
