Digging Deep: the Falcons’ Bernard Reedy

Bernard Reedy

Reporting on undrafted free agents at OTAs, Falcons’ beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter had this to say:

This group of players is vitally important to the future of the franchise. With quarterback Matt Ryan’s $113.75 million contract, wide receiver Roddy White’s possible extension and wide receiver Julio Jones’ forth coming deal, the Falcons must continue to find cheap talent.

I think that’s a good thought. Yes, most of these players never make an impact. But real teams need some of them to break through, so it’s good for us to keep an eye on them, too. Ledbetter goes on to mention two free agent Wide Receivers: Geraldo Boldewijn (6’4″ 220 pounds) and Bernard Reedy (5’9″, 175 pounds).

Can you guess what I did? I ran over to the Career Graphs App to check out the big guy Boldewijn. But I came away more impressed with the little guy Reedy. Take a look at the heatmap:

A 0.38 Dominator Rating (average of msYDS and msTD) is pretty good. He also posted two straight 0.30+ seasons, and is currently the youngest receiver on Atlanta’s roster.

I plugged Reedy into Jon Moore’s Phenom Index and noted his score was an above average 1.4. I find myself somewhat intrigued by Reedy. He’s got a long way to go, and needs some space to open up in front of him (perhaps if Roddy White is in decline?), but he might be able to stick on the roster as a punt and kick returner for now. The good news is, we’ll be able to track him all summer, thanks to Hard Knocks.

In a super deep league like the RotoViz Dynasty League, he’s a name to monitor.

Why You Should Buy High on Deebo Samuel

Roster management has quickly become one of my favorite aspects of dynasty football. The concept of running a team year-round, crafting it and tweaking it to my liking, and scoring big on off-season trades is just as fun as the in-season thrill of weekly matchups. I am working on being
