Training Camp Notebook: Andre Williams Rising, Crabtree, Boldin, and More

Jermichael Finley, Free Agent

The Seahawks are working out Steve Maneri as a possible replacement for injured tight end Anthony McCoy. But they’re not going to take another look at Jermichael Finley. That should tell us everything we need to know about his likely future in the NFL.

Andre Williams, New York Giants

I wrote about his apparently-improved pass catching ability here. Since then, David Wilson has re-injured his neck and it looks like he won’t be returning. Stock up on Williams while he’s cheap.

Albert Wilson, Kansas City Chiefs

Is making a bid for a roster spot. Lots of love for him here at RotoViz, and not many established options ahead of him in the pass game. A good target late in dynasty drafts or off waivers.

Detroit Lions

Continue to look at different players for the third receiver role. Most recently, Kevin Ogletree. Whoever it is, I don’t expect them to have much impact. The video attached to this article also mentions that the Lions are putting more focus on having Calvin Johnson practice in the slot. That fits with an earlier report that Detroit could split Eric Ebron outside and put Johnson inside to create more mismatches. Finally, Theo Riddick looks to be earning a role in the offense. I guesstimated some numbers for him here.

Michael Crabtree, 49ers

Crabtree looks driven in camp. Anquan Boldin is doing his typical, grinding work. Good news for both players, as Boldin performs a bit better with Crabtree in the lineup.

Tennessee Titans

Despite a botched handoff, Bishop Sankey looks to be improving as camp continues. Shonn Greene? Not so much. Despite reportedly needing to lose weight the coaching staff gave him a day off earlier this week. Maybe he’s still recovering from his recent knee surgery? Whatever the case, Sankey and Greene appear to be quickly moving in opposite directions.
