Quarterback streaming can be a viable option for the players who need a bye-week fill in or the guys who went with the late round QB strategy. Not only can QB streaming help in seasonal leagues, but this information can carry over to my favorite aspect of fantasy football, daily fantasy sports.
I’ll be honest, there aren’t very many appealing QB streaming options this week, but I’m going to do my best to dig up a few guys that can be a viable option for your fantasy team this week.
The Packers’ defense currently gives up the sixth fewest fantasy points to QBs this year. However, last week they faced Christian Ponder so take that for what it’s worth. Ryan Tannehill does have double-digit fantasy points in each game this year and he is fresh off the bye this week.
Our RotoViz GLSP App has a middle of the road projection for Tannehill this week. Tanehill has thrown the ball at least 30 times in every game this season and I imagine it’ll be a similar story against the Packers on Sunday. Green Bay has the sixth best pass defense in terms of yardage, but they give up a league high 163 rushing yards per game. Miami should have some success moving the ball, which could present some scoring opportunities for Tannehill and company. Tanehill makes for a decent QB streaming option in a week where there aren’t many options.
The last time Brian Hoyer faced off against the Steelers was in Week 1 where he threw for 230 yards and one touchdown, with no interceptions. Hoyer has double-digit fantasy points in every start this year and is coming off of a performance against the Titans on the road where he threw for 292 yards, three TDs and one interception.
Using the RotoViz GLSP App once again, Hoyer doesn’t appear to have a high ceiling, but his median projection has what we’re looking for in a QB streaming option. Pro Football Focus and and Football Outsiders both have the Steelers ranked near the bottom half of the league defensively. Hoyer has a chance to be successful again this Sunday.
I never thought I’d recommend Eli Manning to you guys, let alone start him in a few of my leagues for two weeks in a row. The Eagles allow the second most fantasy points per game to opposing QBs. Depending on your scoring, the Eagles have allowed at least 17 points/game or more to QBs. This Philly defense is pretty putrid, allowing at least two passing TDs and allowing two of those QBs to throw for 350 yards.
The RotoViz GLSP App has one of the best outlooks for QB streaming options this week for Manning. He’s got a high floor and a high ceiling. The Eagles defense allows a league high 74 offensive plays per game, while the Giants run the fifth most plays in the league at 68 player per game. There should be no shortage of offensive production this week for the Giants.
How I Rank Them
1. Eli Manning
2. Brian Hoyer
3. Ryan Tannehill
