Shawn Siegele will provide his annual Zero RB candidates and Breakout WR lists later this summer, but today he offers a sneak peak at the players he's selecting in 2019 drafts, including 28 priority targets. Last year, his priority targets included advice to do whatever it takes to acquire Christian McCaffrey and to select Tyler Boyd in the last round of every draft.
As training camps open, I wanted a point of reference for all of the subsequent shifts in player value. I've already had the opportunity to participate in numerous 2019 drafts, and I'll be continuing to draft leading up to the big FFPC Main Event that Curtis Patrick and I will draft a little over a month from now.
In this exercise, I look at the top 200 players by FFPC ADP. Most of the early-round players would be candidates for any roster, with only handful who are overvalued by more than a pick or two. Once we get into Round 3, at least half the board moves into the Do Not Draft range. I'm obviously wrong on some of these players every year, but avoiding their low-ceiling/high-risk profiles provides above-average results.
I've placed an "x" next to every player who would be draftable as a "value," if they slide below ADP as they inevitably will in many drafts. In addition, a handful of players are undervalued by a round or more. These players receive the "Target" designation and become the backbone of my 2019 rosters. I've provided links to research on many of these players as I hope RotoViz subscribers are interested in the "why" as much as the "who." My selections are always evidence-based. They result from the excellent research from our writing team and the data delivered via the work of our apps developers.
