The RotoViz Rookie Rankings Summit took place last Saturday night. As we get close to publication of Vol. 1 for the 2023 RotoViz Rookie Guide, it’s hard not to get caught up in rookie fever. This class has been the focus of devy managers for years, and after what felt like an interminable wait, we’re now mere months away from hearing their names called on draft day.

With many of the biggest breakthroughs in prospect analysis coming from RotoViz through the years, I love how the Guide has continued that tradition. Our picks aren’t infallible, of course, but the advanced research behind those player selections has allowed us to get many of the most important calls correct.

The last three seasons have each featured a purportedly elite RB prospect. We encouraged you to grab as many shares of Breece Hall and Jonathan Taylor as possible (keeping Taylor above Clyde Edwards-Helaire even when ADP flipped), while recommending that you avoid Najee Harris. All three calls have been critical to dominating startups and building dynasties.

In 2021, we had Ja’Marr Chase and Trevor Lawrence neck and neck for the top spot, including the selection of Chase at No. 1 in many of our mocks. Chase has turned into an absolute world-breaker, while many other top prospects from 2021 have struggled. It’s hard to believe now, but Chase was the 1.06 in Superflex that season.
