Malik Nabers’ Superstar Ascension Is Unstoppable: Why Even the Giants’ Offensive Struggles Can’t Prevent 2025’s Most Explosive WR Breakout

Kevin Szafraniec details the steps the Giants have taken this offseason to turn the franchise around and explains why not even continued struggles on offense can slow down Malik Nabers’ ascension to superstar status.

Brian Daboll’s tenure as the Giants’ head coach started off with a promising debut in 2022, finishing the season with a winning record and making a trip to the divisional round of the playoffs. Sadly, Daboll’s first-year success quickly unraveled, turning him from the team’s promising coach of the future to one of their primary problems. However, Daboll does not find himself as the only member of the Giants’ leadership on the hot seat in 2025, as general manager Joe Schoen deserves his share of the blame for the franchise’s recent deterioration.

Still, the past few seasons have not been without their bright spots, with the drafting of star wide receiver Malik Nabers being chief among them. Following a rookie season that ranks among the all-time greats at the position, Nabers leads a young nucleus of players on the Giants roster who will be relied upon to turn around the fortunes of the franchise. However, the question that is currently looming over the Giants organization is whether the necessary changes will materialize quickly enough to save the team’s current front office or if the next regime will be the one to provide fans with the winner they’ve been desperately hoping for.

Continuing to Trend in the Wrong Direction

Time is running out for Daboll and Schoen following a third straight season when the Giants win total has decreased by three games. Although the majority of the Giants’ numbers didn’t shift dramatically compared to 2023, despite seeing their win total cut in half, telling that to ownership will not do much to ease long-term concerns about the direction of the franchise.

Given that Daboll’s offense has not climbed higher than 29th in the league in either scoring or yardage over the past two years, pessimism concerning his ability to lead the team is warranted. If the Giants fail to see significant improvement this season, we should be expecting there to be widespread changes across the front office for 2026.
