Kevin Szafraniec outlines how Yahoo’s default settings can alter the way we choose to address the tight end position in our home leagues and why finding a difference maker becomes that much more important.
Over the years, I would have generally started any roster construction series by outlining how fantasy managers should be building out their wide receiver corps. While WR depth is certainly one of the core principles of building a successful fantasy team, many would argue that the ADP environment in 2025 allows us to wait at WR (relative to years past) in favor of supercharging our rosters with elite talent at other positions. For this reason, I kicked off my look at Yahoo leagues by focusing on quarterbacks. With our QB game plan in tow, we will be shifting our focus to the other critical onesie position that could come to define our 2025 home league drafts: tight end.
Yahoo leagues default to half-PPR scoring and feature a 15-round draft. Starting lineups consist of: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 K, and 1 D. For those following along at home, this leaves us with six bench spots, in addition to two IR slots. Many other platforms allow a seventh bench spot, making roster management in a standard Yahoo league a bit tighter. While one bench spot may not seem like a big deal to some, making sure we’re packing as much upside as possible into every opening on the roster could represent the difference between a championship season and missing out on the playoffs.
Due to the number of players featured in each tier, it is important to mention that they are listed in order of Yahoo ADP, not personal preference. If you are looking for rankings, we have everything you need from redraft and best ball to dynasty.
