Last weekend I had the chance to draft a $100,000 FFPC best ball tournament team with Zachary Krueger on his show, Roster Locked. In the question-and-answer session, I mentioned that I don’t diversify my rosters quite as much as some fantasy players. I’m willing to own a high concentration of what I believe to be league-winning players.
In 2013, this worked out well, as the trio of Jamaal Charles, Alshon Jeffery, and Josh Gordon played a big role in finishing first and second in the NFFC Primetime. Last season, sky-high ownership in Stefon Diggs led to a pair of FFPC Main Event league wins. The Alvin Kamara team with Curtis Patrick ended up finishing 12th overall. The Extreme Zero RB squad with Blair Andrews finished 31st.
It’s easy to say that an emphasis on structural drafting and owning league-winners is the key to fantasy football. It’s harder to execute these objectives. But we often find that many fantasy participants don’t have those as foundational elements of their process, instead making a point of value drafting and diversification within a VBD mindset.
Earlier this week, I broke down 3 Players to Buy Before It’s Too Late. Today I’m going to be looking at a couple of players who are as undervalued as Diggs was last season. This doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed to hit their ceilings the way Gordon did in 2013 or Diggs did a year ago. Instead, we’re drafting as many win-big/lose-small players as possible to give ourselves exposure to that type of upside, and at very favorable prices.
