The Chiefs Continue to Add Exciting Fast Wide Receivers, But Is the Patrick Mahomes Effect Enough to Revive Marquise Brown’s Career?

Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, Mecole Hardman, and Marquez Valdez-Scantling are just a few of the names we have seen propped up over the past few seasons under the pretense that being part of an offense led by Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid could, should, and would take their games to a higher level. In 2023, we finally saw one of those bets pay off as Rashee Rice came on late in the season to help deliver playoff glory to fantasy managers who stayed patient with him over the first half of the season. Now, the Chiefs have signed Marquise Brown to a one-year, $7 million contract. Brown is the latest receiver to see his ADP jump due to the Mahomes effect, as he appears to be a Frankenstein of the qualities — both positive and negative — that have been characteristic of the Chiefs’ recent misses at WR. (Toney’s draft pedigree, Hardman’s short-area speed, Valdez-Scantling’s ability to take the top off of defenses, and, of course, we can’t leave out the drops.) Will being a member of the Chiefs’ offense see Brown live up to the potential we saw from him earlier in his career, or are we in store for another disappointing season from a player who steamed up draft boards after he landed in Kansas City?

In most years Malik Nabers would have been the clear-cut WR1 in rookie drafts, while also being in contention for the overall 1.01. But 2024 is definitely not most years. Sporting the deepest quarterback class in recent memory, in addition to a wide receiver group that rivals the fabled class of 2014, the value that can be had in the first round of Superflex rookie…...

But when he did break out, Thomas didn’t hold back. In 2023, Thomas led all of college…...

On a Scale of Mecole Hardman to Tyreek Hill, How Good Can Xavier Worthy be in Kansas City?

After being heralded as the best true-freshman WR of all time, we have had to wait two long years to find out which NFL city Xavier Worthy would call home. Although Worthy’s projected draft capital has fluctuated since his historic freshman season, he saw his stock rise substantially after breaking the NFL combine record in the forty-yard dash. With the trauma of the Bengals’ infamous…...
