Yahoo! NFL DFS – Week 1 Picks, Stacks, and Game Selection

Yahoo! NFL DFS is a fantastic product which offers a level playing field with low max-entry caps, insanely attractive zero and low-management fee GPPs, and a one-of-a-kind, experience and performance-based Quick Match feature that keeps head-to-head games fair. If you aren’t playing on Yahoo!, change that today. Get $25 FREE with your first deposit using promo code VIZ25.

I’ll be covering Yahoo! NFL DFS all season in this space with suggested player picks, game stacks, and game selection notes. We’ll focus on the main slate, but bonus content may find its way here on occasional as well.

Cornerstone Cash Plays

Jameis Winston ($31) is my preferred cash play on this platform at T-QB10 pricing in the matchup with the highest O/U (51) on the slate and facing off in what Vegas is projecting as a close game with a -1 spread.

Kyler Murray ($26) is a cash alternative (T-QB16) is you want to save a few bucks. The RotoViz Strength of Schedule Streaming App likes the Detroit defense as a top-five matchup for the opposing QB this week.

Running Back

Dalvin Cook ($27) is a must-play. Minnesota has spent the entire offseason retooling their scheme around a zone rush attack that’s a perfect fit for his skills. Priced at T-RB8 here as a home favorite, I’m salivating.

Leonard Fournette ($20) is the cash lock of the week on this platform. His backfield market share should be as higher or higher than any other running back this week. Kansas City is a plus-matchup for opposing RBs and Fournette is a true three-down player and should see his fair share of check downs as the Jaguars try to keep up with the Chiefs in the game with the second-highest O/U on the slate.

Wide Receiver

Tyler Lockett ($22) is the no-doubt WR1 in Seattle this week (and this season), priced appropriately at T-WR11 in a plus-matchup against the Bengals. Over the past two seasons, Lockett has enjoyed more fantasy scoring and fantasy opportunity at home than on the road, and that was before Doug Baldwin retired.

Chris Godwin ($20) is $8 cheaper than teammate Mike Evans and we’ve already identified this as an attractive game for fantasy floor and upside.

Tight End

Evan Engram ($19) is priced at T-TE5, a ridiculous $8 lower than Travis Kelce and George Kittle. Engram has absolutely scorched the earth without Odell Beckham Jr. in the lineup during his career and should be the focal point of the Giants passing offense. He’s also enjoyed success against the Cowboys.

Seattle ($16) is a 9.5-point home favorite and should get plenty of pass rush opportunities against a horrific Cincinnati offense line when the Bengals enter catch-up mode.

GPP Game Stacks

We’re primarily targeting the highest O/U games for correlation plays.

  • SF vs TB (51)
    • Stack either quarterback with at least one pass-catcher and run it back with an opposing pass catcher. Dante Pettis ($15) has been criticized heavily in the media the summer and is a better value play than Kittle. I expect Godwin to have higher ownership than Evans, so that makes the latter an interesting leverage play.
  • KC vs JAX (50.5)
    • My favorite GPP stacks for this game are Fournette / Kelce and Nick Foles ($27) / Dede Westbrook ($15) / Kelce. However, I can get onboard with about every offensive player in the game except Patrick Mahomes ($39), who is the most expensive player on the slate.
  • LAR vs CAR (50)
    • Todd Gurley ($28) will reportedly not be on any kind of touch count and I think people could miss out on him here due to some of the other values on the slate. He’s been absolutely money on the road in the Sean McVay era. I like D.J. Moore ($16) and Curtis Samuel ($16) coming back the other way. If you have the salary for Christian McCaffrey ($37), he’s been slightly better at home than on the road in his career, and as a home underdog he’s averaged 6.4 receptions per game over a five-game sample.

  • PIT vs NE (49)
    • We know Bill Belichick likes to take away the opposing team’s primary weapon, and in 2019 that means Juju Smith-Schuster should see plenty of attention. James Conner ($32), Vance McDonald ($13), and Donte Moncrief ($12) are all in play. On the other side, Tom Brady ($33) averages nearly four more fantasy points per game over the past five seasons as a -5.5-point favorite at home (30 game sample). Julian Edelman ($19) and James White ($15) are stackable with Brady, or if you want to play for a different script, run it back with Sony Michel ($19).

GPP Game Selection Notes

Here are my favorite games in the Yahoo! NFL DFS Lobby this week:

The NFL Million Dollar Baller is an absolute must on Yahoo! this week. It’s a zero management fee GPP with a $100K top prize. It’s $25 to enter and has a 10 lineup cap per contestant.

The NFL $100K Guaranteed is a $10 GPP with a 12% management fee and pays $20K to first.

The NFL Yahoo Cup is a free, GPP style league that runs all year. Yahoo is offering a $1M prize to anyone who posts a perfect lineup, and there are weekly and yearly prizes. Definitely play this every week. Again, it’s free.
