Giana Pacinelli provides QB streaming options, 2-QB plays, and overall QB rankings for Week 12 of the 2019 fantasy football season.
There is a lot to cover in the quarterback sphere after Week 11, but the most shocking was the outcome of the Lamar Jackson vs. Deshaun Watson game — largely because Watson didn’t seem to show up. Jackson is making the MVP run a near no-contest, posting his second straight game with multiple touchdown passes while also adding another 80 yards on the ground for the first time while on the campaign trail.
Dak Prescott is making his own pitch for MVP. His 3,000 passing yards and 20 passing TDs on the season make him the fourth quarterback in history to achieve such a feat in each of his first four seasons. Week 11 was his third game this season with 400-plus passing yards, leaving him one game shy of achieving that record too.
Meanwhile, Josh Allen set the pace, scoring the most fantasy points of the week with three scores through the air and one on the ground, marking the most rushing touchdowns in the NFL — more than both Jackson and Russell Wilson. He also holds the second-longest passing streak in the NFL (163) without an interception.
Onto my picks, I clearly chose the wrong of the three Allens this week. Kyle Allen balanced his 325 passing yards with an abysmal four interceptions and zero touchdowns, leaving fans and fantasy owners to reconsider both their thoughts on Cam Newton and the Atlanta defense. Fortunately, Derek Carr continued to impress and Nick Foles doubters were proven wrong (at least for a week) with a successful bounceback performance. These two picks delivered QB11 and 12 performances, respectively.
And just like that, we have officially entered Week 12. Many of us only have a couple weeks to secure our playoff spot to extend our fantasy season. Several of us will have to fight the good fight without Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, Kyler Murray and Philip Rivers this week (though missing Rivers might be a good thing).

2-QB Pick of the Week – Jacoby Brissett at HOU
Ownership (Yahoo): 39%
Ownership (ESPN): 50.2%
Brissett’s return to the lineup was a big lift to the Colts. While his 148 yards and a single touchdown may have been underwhelming for fantasy owners, he did lead his team to victory over a division rival. Now, one week healthier, he’ll face the Texans on Thursday Night Football.
The Houston defense has looked particularly vulnerable on defense lately, and not just because they gave up 41 points to Baltimore last week. While Brissett is not Lamar Jackson, Houston’s secondary has been the point of contention in their defense, allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. In the last five weeks, quarterbacks have averaged an 18.4 fantasy performance — one of those quarterbacks being Brissett himself.
It also helps Brissett’s fantasy position that he will likely have T.Y. Hilton back in the offense this week. Still widely available in leagues and criminally underrated this season, this may be your last chance to snag Brissett with one week left of bye weeks – and a favorable upcoming schedule that includes Tennessee and Tampa Bay.
Favorite Streamer – Jeff Driskel at WAS
Ownership (Yahoo): 4%
Ownership (ESPN): 4.1%
Since taking over for the injured Matthew Stafford, Jeff Driskel has been surprisingly competent with QB12 and QB5 performances in his first two starts as the Lions’ signal-caller.
Facing off against a Washington defense that just allowed four passing touchdowns to Sam Darnold, Driskel presents a solid option with significant upside. He has 88 rushing yards across his two starts. So while showing a willingness to run, he adds potential for rushing touchdowns as well in the near future.
It is being reported that Driskel could remain the Lions’ starting quarterback for the next few weeks. If true, his matchups against Tampa Bay and Denver make for ideal championship matchups. Whether you’re looking for a quarterback for this week or the remaining of the season, you may find luck with this late-season addition.
Bounceback Candidate – Baker Mayfield vs MIA
Ownership (Yahoo): 56%
Ownership (ESPN): 45.3%
Baker Mayfield has been the most disappointing fantasy quarterback for most of this season. The last couple weeks, however, he has started to right the ship. He is averaging 230 passing yards in the last five weeks, has had two consecutive multi-passing touchdown outings and has gone three straight games without an interception after starting the season with at least one pick in each of the first seven games.
Fortunately for desperate fantasy owners, Mayfield’s underwhelming first half of the season caused his ownership to fall significantly, making him currently available in half of fantasy leagues. Coming off his second-best fantasy performance of the year, Mayfield will look to continue his comeback against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have given up the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season and just allowed Josh Allen to have a 117.7 passer rating, 256 yards and three touchdowns.
It’s not just the Dolphins matchup that makes Mayfield a favorable streamer pick. His remaining schedule is one that makes him a low-risk, high-upside bounceback candidate for the remainder of the season.
