Philadelphia’s Championship Blueprint: Why Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts Could Be Even More Explosive in 2025 Despite Coaching Turnover

Kevin Szafraniec outlines the changes that have occurred across the Eagles’ organization this offseason following their Super Bowl victory and whether savvy moves from the front office will be enough to guarantee continued success in a sometimes volatile Philadelphia locker room.

Fantasy championships aren’t won by chasing last year’s production – they’re secured by managers who understand how team-level changes create cascading effects throughout a roster. This exhaustive 32-team outlook series leverages our proprietary metrics and tools to identify these critical transitions before your leaguemates catch on.

Philadelphia’s general manager, Howie Roseman, has been putting on a master class in roster building over the past decade. Since receiving final say over personnel decisions in 2015, the Eagles have made three Super Bowl appearances (including two in the last three seasons), only losing once, to the Chiefs in 2022. Whether it was trading for A.J. Brown, drafting Jalen Hurts, signing Saquon Barkley, or building one of the most formidable defenses in the league through the draft, few of Roseman’s moves have gone awry.

Unfortunately, talent isn’t everything. Last offseason was filled with rumors of a fractured relationship between Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni. Those rumors were then mirrored in-season with similar concerns between Hurts and his top receiving option, Brown. Rumors of Sirianni’s job being in jeopardy and increasing distractions in the locker room led to several moments in 2024 when the team appeared to be on the verge of implosion. However, the team was able to overcome the drama and bring home the Lombardi Trophy, largely thanks to a dominant running attack and an unrelenting defense.

Although some of the faces have changed, Philadelphia remains committed to the same blueprint for success in 2025. Will a similar approach lead to a return to the Super Bowl, or will changes across the organization, strong personalities, and the pitfalls of success lead to the Eagles falling short of the standard they set in 2024?

Rising Above the Noise

At the end of the 2023 season, the Eagles franchise was in disarray after losing to Tampa Bay in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs. The entire coaching staff, just one season removed from a Super Bowl appearance, found themselves on the hot seat. Both Brian Johnson and Sean Desai were fired as coordinators after one year on the job, with Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio being brought in as their respective replacements.

Although rumors of discontent persisted into the season, the moves Philadelphia made on the coaching staff yielded immediate results. Fangio turned the Eagles’ defense into the top unit in the league, while Moore crafted a top-10 offense that finished second in rushing yards.
