3 Defensive Streamers to Help You in Week 2

We got off to a decent start streaming defenses in 2016 with a solid Week 1 thanks to a solid performance by the Eagles and a 49ers shutout of the Rams.1 Unfortunately, the Titans offense handed the Vikings two scores and in turn ruined their defense’s chances of providing a solid fantasy outing. With Week 1 behind us, let’s turn our attention toward the upcoming slate of games. AVAILABLE DEFENSES FOR WEEK 2 Going forward, we will be using ownership percentages from ESPN fantasy leagues to identify potential streaming options. I have listed the 16 least owned defenses below as…...

The Defensive Streamers to Help You in Week 1

The NFL season is finally upon us and it’s time to crush our fantasy leagues! Like many managers, I stream my defenses on a weekly basis and for the next 17 weeks we’re going to be evaluating our best options…....

Using ‘Auction Tiers’ for Last Minute Prep

Last week we looked at supply and demand and learned how to use basic economics to approach auction drafts. Our discussion had a couple of major takeaways, one of which was that it is often best to consider positional tiers when determining the prices that we would be willing to pay for players. This is due to the laws of supply and demand and the non-linear nature of auctions. As we learned, it can be dangerous to head into an auction with a static set of values or a plan that is entirely derived from them. We can’t dictate prices set by…...

Who is Trey Burton?

Source: Film breakdown: Eagles should run their offense through their tight ends | Philly Voice: Troughout training camp, Doug Pederson has shown a heavy dose of multiple tight end sets, occasionally putting three (sometimes even four) tight ends on the field…....

Robert Woods: The Guy Behind the Guy

Robert Woods is essentially free and I plan on taking advantage of this in fantasy drafts. As of July 28, he is being drafted in PPR leagues as the 217th  player off the board and the 76th  wide receiver. A number of these players could outscore him but there are few that could inherit the number of targets that he will if Sammy Watkins misses substantial time in 2016. Target Potential Though some would label Watkins as ‘injury prone,’ he’s actually only missed three games during the course of his two year career. While it does seem likely that he’ll be ready to go for Week 1…...

The Resurgence of the Packers Offense, 2016 Projections

The Green Bay Packers were a major disappointment for fantasy drafters in 2015. Aaron Rodgers played a full season but was unable to crack the top five of quarterback rankings. Eddie Lacy got outscored by James Starks. Randall Cobb struggled as the leader of the receiving corps and DaVante Adams, who was being drafted in the fourth round of drafts, barely eclipsed 100 PPR points. With Jordy Nelson returning and 2015 in the rear view mirror, many are expecting a resurgence for the entire offense. After using our staff Projection Machine to build a reasonable expectation of the Packer’s 2016 season, I’m inclined to agree…....

Antonio Brown is Good, 2016 Steelers Projections

The Steelers offense has produced some epic fantasy performances over the last couple of seasons and all signs point to it doing so again in 2016. Using our staff Projection Machine, I pulled together what I believe to be likely outcomes for Ben Roethlisberger and the rest of the Pittsburgh offense. As you are likely aware, the Projection Machine employs a top-down approach and works off team wide offensive assumptions. Like most, I expect the Steelers to be a good team in 2016 winning 10 or 11 games. For purposes of the projection, I assumed that Roethlisberger will be able to…...

The Thorn in Eddie Lacy’s Rather Large Side

After the disaster that was Eddie Lacy’s 2015 season, it’s hard to believe that the rotund running back is going off the board in the second round of 2016 drafts as RB9. Though the majority of drafters are expecting a bounce back season, prudent owners should really think long and hard before investing significant draft capital into the fourth year back. A SQUANDERED OPPORTUNITY The opportunity was there for Lacy in 2015. The Packers recorded 436 rushing attempts; the team’s second highest total between 2009 and 2015. Yet, he was able to amass only 187 attempts and a market share…...

Were 2015 RB Injury Rates Abnormally High?

As Ben Gretch recently noted, Zero RB is an uncomfortable strategy to fully commit to. For this reason, it comes as no surprise that the approach is still facing a level of resistance in the fantasy community. Anthony Amico has explained why the running back position could make a comeback in 2016, and there’s no denying that 2015 was a great year to be a Zero RB drafter. And who knows, maybe all years are? However, there is one anti-Zero RB argument floating around that we need to vanquish entirely; injury rates at the RB position were abnormally high in…...
