Before I look at Week 6, it is important to observe if the selection process was effective. Here is a recap of last week’s recommendations. If you need a refresher on what to look for when analyzing kickers, read the Week 2 Fantasy Football Kicker Streaming article.
|Name, Team||Stat Line||Week 4 Position Rank|
|1||Jake Elliott, Philadelphia Eagles||FG 1/1 XP 4/4||T-13|
|2||Randy Bullock, Cincinnati Bengals||FG 3/3 XP 2/2||T-5|
|3||Zane Gonzalez, Arizona Cardinals||FG 4/5 XP 2/2||T-1|
|4||Robbie Gould, San Francisco 49ers||FG 1/4 XP 4/4||T-13|
Just imagine how hard I was tilting during Gould’s three misses, it should have been a truly lovely week. Instead, it was just pretty good. But, yet again, we managed to find a few top-end kickers, and all the selections were in the top half of the scorers.
This week, as most weeks, offers us yet another opportunity to stream the kicker position. Here is a look at a few of my favorite options. This week does not have as many great streaming plays as the highly owned Ks have the most fantastic matchups. However, as always, some gems are waiting to be discovered.
Week 6 Streaming Options
All ownership percentages are based on Yahoo leagues.
1. Mike Nugent, New England Patriots 26%
I picked Nugent up in a few leagues last week after the Stephen Gostkowski injury news broke. I was immediately triggered when Nugent missed his first attempt. But kicking for the New England Patriots provides tremendous weekly opportunity; they are usually favorites, have a high powered offense, and typically have high implied point totals. This week versus the New York Giants is no different. The Patriots’ 30.5-point implication is the second-highest in the league. The Giants have given up the second-most passing yards per game this season. For more info, check out the RotoViz NFL Stat Explorer App.
2. Matt Bryant, Atlanta Falcons, 24%
The Falcons are a mess defensively, yet the Falcons are favorites in this week’s game at the Arizona Cardinals. The game is predicted by Vegas to be a close affair, and it has the second-highest Over/Under of the week at 52. In the Cardinals last three games, they have been allowing an average of four red zone opportunities a game. Furthermore, both teams are top five in offensive plays, so there will be plenty of scoring opportunities in this one. The RotoViz NFL Pace App is a great place to observe this.
3. Zane Gonzalez, Arizona Cardinals, 17%
Read the above for Bryant, and much of it is the same for Gonzalez. While the Cardinals are underdogs, the spread is only +2, and Arizona leads the league in both field-goal attempts and made field goals.
Best of the Rest
4. Matt Gay, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 22%
It seems as if the majority of previous streamers are no longer under that 50% threshold. Players like Brett Maher and Jake Elliott are great options this week but too highly owned. Gay, however, has a good chance to finish the week as a top streaming play. He is at home, and while the implied point total is lower than most recommended kickers, the offense should provide enough scoring chances. Jameis Winston, Chris Godwin, and the ghosts of Mike Evans and O.J. Howard will be able to move the ball down the field.
