Forgive me, but why in the world is Stephen Gostkowski still owned in 21% of Yahoo leagues? If you have him, please cut him and pick up your favorite running back handcuff, even if the starter is not on your team. Or check out my Do Not Cut List and see if one of those gems is available. You are wasting a roster spot.
Before I look at Week 7, it is important to see if the selection process was effective. Here is a recap of last week’s recommendations. If you need a refresher on what to look for when analyzing kickers, read the Week 2 Fantasy Football Kicker Streaming article.
|Name, Team||Stat Line||Week 4 Position Rank|
|1||Mike Nugent, New England Patriots||FG 0/1 XP 5/5||T-18|
|2||Matt Bryant, Atlanta Falcons||FG 2/2 XP 3/4||T-8|
|3||Zane Gonzalez, Arizona Cardinals||FG 2/2 XP 4/4||T-5|
|4||Matt Gay, Tampa Bay Buccaneers||FG 1/1 XP 1/1||T-23|
Well, that was rough! Gay and Nugent hurt me this week. The game script got away from Gay, and Nugent’s missed field goal certainly hurt. For the year we are still doing well, and Week 7 provides another opportunity to get things right.
Week 7 Streaming Options
All ownership percentages are based on Yahoo leagues.
1.Stephen Hauschka, Buffalo Bills, 2%
Rostered in only 2% of leagues, Hauschka is almost certainly available, so open a new tab and grab him now before scrolling over to the other awesome content on RotoViz. In short, he is the streamer you want this week. The Bills have the second-highest implied point total at 28, they are at home, and face the Dolphins who are 27th in pass defense, 31st in rush defense, and 31st in opponent red-zone attempts per game, at 4.2. The only — and I do mean the only — fear that I have is that the Bills continue with their efficient red-zone offense and score touchdowns each trip down. But Hauschka will be kicking plenty. We can only hope Miami stops them a few times to ensure the kicks are worth three points and not just one.
2.Aldrick Rosas, New York Giants, 9%
Arizona remains a great streaming opponent for kickers. They are the second-best matchup based on average points against for the season. The Giants will also be getting key offensive players Saquon Barkley and likely Evan Engram back this week. Daniel Jones should be able to move the ball down the field versus a Cardinals team that has not stopped any teams to date.
3.Mike Nugent, New England Patriots, 37%
What’s the saying? Nothing in this world is certain other than death, taxes, and favorable streaming matchups for New England kickers. The Patriots are favorites again this week, and their 25.75 implied point total is the seventh highest on the week. New England only scores touchdowns on 50% of their red-zone opportunities so look for Nugent to get a few FG opportunities this week.
4.Adam Vinatieri, Indianapolis Colts, 15%
Home favorites are always targets, especially when the game has the fifth-highest implied point total and a sub-three-point spread. If Vegas thinks it will be a high-scoring and close competitive game, well … that’s the recipe for field goal attempts. Furthermore, both teams are tied for eighth in offensive plays per game at 68.
