Week 8 Fantasy Football Kicker Streaming

The Process

Before I look at Week 8, it is important to see whether the selection process was effective. Here is a recap of last week’s recommendations. If you need a refresher on what to look for when analyzing kickers, read the Week 2 Fantasy Football Kicker Streaming article.

Name, Team Stat Line Week 4 Position Rank
1 Stephen Hauschka, Buffalo Bills FG 3/3 XP 2/2

T – 6

2 Aldrick Rosas, New York Giants FG 0/1 XP 3/3

T – 24

3 Mike Nugent, New England Patriots FG 1/1 XP 4/4

T – 13

4 Adam Vinatieri, Indianapolis Colts FG 0/0 XP 4/4

T – 21

The beacon of light that shines on the Week 7 recommendations is that I told you Hauschka was the guy you want, and not to mess around beyond that. Hopefully you listened, because Rosas and Vinatieri did not get any field goals, and Nugent lining up for four extra points did not help matters much either!

Week 8 Streaming Options

All ownership percentages are based on Yahoo leagues.

Favorite Options

1. Dan Bailey, Minnesota Vikings, 15%

The Minnesota offense looks explosive all of a sudden, and that is a very good thing for kickers. The Vikings also have the second-highest implied point total at 29 and are home favorites against the Washington football team. This is the easy play of the week — don’t overthink this one. The RotoViz NFL Stat Explorer shows the recent explosion in passing yards.

2. Chris Boswell, Pittsburgh Steelers, 5%

Boswell is available everywhere after coming off a bye week. And nothing screams, “Stream me” like a home matchup versus the worst scoring defense, and third-worst defense in the league in yardage allowed, the Miami Dolphins.

3. Adam Vinatieri, Indianapolis Colts, 17%

It is true, Vinatieri has only made eight field goals so far this season, and a big reason is that the Colts are scoring touchdowns in the red zone over 65% of the time. However, Denver, this week’s opponents, is the third-best red-zone defense in the league, which could lead to a few short makeable FGs.

4. Matt Bryant, Atlanta Falcons, 39%

Underdogs rarely make for good streamers, but all bets are off when the opponent is the Seahawks. Seattle has only won one game by more than four points. The likelihood of a blowout is slim, even if Matt Ryan is unable to play. Matt Schaub looked capable and the Stat Explorer shows us how well quarterbacks have fared against the Hawks. Bryant should have plenty of chances to line up for kicks, and this Seahawks fan thinks many of those will be of the three-point variety as the Seahawks have a top three red-zone defense.
